Need some AA batteries? (not an ad)

Um..that doesn't seem very safe. I doubt those are completely normal, safe batteries in there.
 
Gee, I'm buying into it. It doesn't matter that the first word in the clip is Gagfilms.com.

You guys wash up real good to get those chemicals off your skin when you open that lantern battery.

Thing is, its pretty normal for battery people to do this kinda stuff. Lots of "battery packs" for things are nothing more than double AA batteries or such with soldered on tabs that connect the batteries in series or parallel. I'll probably pick up a latern battery to check this, and if sub cells are in there, check voltages and life span on them. Really a simple matter.

And do not do the math that one guy did thinking 1.5V + 4 batteries = 6V... circuits are funny things, mkay?

And Azureman is right. Battery packs = set of rechargable AA's bundled together in a circuit.
 
Okay, I bought it.

I took off the top. And there's a hell of amount of batteries. I put two into my cable TV Remote, and I put two in the CD Player my cousin has, I'm bringing it to her tommorow, so I'll see how long those will last.
 
I would like to add that not all 6 volts contain AA batteries. I just opened one and exploded one of the 4 C battery-like cells that were within it.
 
Generally, it would probably be better to just get some Ni-Cad rechargeables or such, and a charger. What my family has done for years with all the gameboys, CD players, and other random battery using electronic crap we have amassed (which is alot since my dad is basically an electrical engineer).

I generally find any price over 25-30 cents (US) per battery is over priced... Energizer's and Duracell's are heavily overpriced I think.
 
Yeah I just bought an evereday (sp?) battery, cheaper than energizer.

It was lighter as well...still trying to SAFELY open it...too bad it doesn't have any screws in it to undo.

Well, there is the third brand like Rayovac seems to last long than Energizer or Duracell for my usage ( MP3 players and Remote Controls) but this is my opinion.
 
Kroger had markdown 48 pack panasonic AA batteries from 20 to 10 dollars, I got two :)

Update: LIES! (At least on the evereday 6v)



Throwing it against a brickwall is a lot safer than trying to pry it open :) (But I am lucky I guess I didn't zap myself trying)

Actually I did a science fair project on this using battery-powered toy trains. I had one with Duracell, one with Energizer, and one with Rayovac. Duracell lasted just 2 seconds longer than Energizer, and I'm sorry to say that Rayovac had quit several minutes earlier. Seems that you get what you pay for with batteries. (Only if minutes matter to you)

Well, thats true but its better than the dollar batteries that seems to be duds sometimes.

In a manner of speaking... I don't think you get 3 times the battery life when you by a Duracell than some generic brand for a third of the price... probably only a few percent difference in life span, with a 300 percent difference in cost...

Was that a Rayovac? Because the inside of that is identical to the one I opened. I used a can opener, which was scary effective. Then I hit it with a hammer to pry the top off and one of the big batteries exploded.


Regardless, we buy batteries in packs of 7000 (or something like that) for $20, so battery life isn't a problem. And when you have a Nomad, that's a good thing.
 
OOOOOH!! so if I go at my car's battery (even though my car is gasoline I use the same battery that the diesel model would) that means I should get............... enough AA batteries to last me the rest of my life!!!

Then technically couldn't you put in GOOD batteries back in that container to have an AMAZING "6V" battery?
