This is useful if you're well into the game and/or don't want to lose all your progress. Yes, it's just one trophy, but if you want 100% completion, then...

1. Back up your saved game to USB, then delete your save off the HDD.
2. Start a new game. You will, of course, have 20,000 cr. to play around with.
3. Purchase and get into a '91 Mazda Eunos Roadster from the premium dealership. This will set you back 19,000.
4. Purchase the ECU for 1,000. You'll be tapped.
5. Return to the GT Life screen, where the Penniless trophy notificaton will pop up, then exit the game.
6. Restore your original save off USB.
7. Check your trophy collection. Penniless will have been added.
8. Game on.

I didn't see this tip posted anywhere, so I suppose I'll take credit for it. :sly:

Yeah, but getting approximately $20,000,000 is a hard thing to do, especially since prize winnings in most races aren't rounded off to the nearest 1,000 or 10,000. If you have $20,021,537, you'd still have $21,537 left in the bank after buying a Miura or GT40. (Or ten Veyrons.) The chances are pretty remote you could buy a used car for approximately that much cash. And you were over by only $7, good luck trying to burn that. :)

The maximum credits you can hold is 20,000,000. If you have 19,999,999 and you win 50,000, say goodbye to 49,999 of it.

I thought that there was a 20 million credit limit which allowed you to save up till that amount and then buy one of the cars that cost 20 million (330 P4, GT40, etc). Maybe i heard wrong though...

I didn't know about the max credit limit. Wow, you learn something new everyday. Still, if you're well short of 20 mil, you could do the trick as outlined above if you're impatient, haha

Or, like I did, round off your credits to multiples of 50 or 100 and then buy new cars, parts, car washes until you've spent all your money.

You don't really 'need' the trophy for anything, it's one of the Playstation Network trophies. Unless you are going for Playstation Trophy achievements it's of no use.

Its required to plat the game..

getting gold on some of the things are impossible for people so unless you've done that I wouldn't waste the time collecting all the other worthless ones cause you'll never plat it.

anyways getting this trophy can be done easily even straight off with a new account and 20k. Just buy a 15k car and the go-kart.
That or save up 20 mil which is the max you can earn and by a 20 mil car and you'll get a few trophies for doing it.

I just looked in the UCD at the prices on cars (off and on) until I found one that would even out my credits to a whole so I could use them up and get the trophy. I was somewhere around Level 20 when I did it (A-Spec). At least its one way you will want to spend credits on a car you otherwise would not purchase!

Instead of doing all that, just lower the number of credits you have to below 100k or so and just do the math on some UCD cars such that they add up to the total number of credits you have. That's what I did. Easy peasy.

So 3 ways:

1. Using the glitch the OP suggests, pretty handy but arguably cheating

2. Looking at how many Cr you have (when you don't have too many) and finding a car in the UCD that brings your balance down to a round number you can then reduce with oil changes etc. or perhaps a premium car

3. Saving 20 million (perhaps later on in your progress) and buying a 20 million car

Personally I opted for 2 early on, for the hell of it really (as not really collecting trophies) but all 3 are good options :)

I hate to bump this, but will deleting the safe data from the PS3(after it is backed up of course) cause me to loose all my replays, lap times and Photos?

I should've checked this before.
I cashed out on a X2010 that I didn't need for the trophy, I already had 4 X2010s

This is why I hate trophy-collecting. It's just barely-relevant busy work to extend replay value without any creativity.

It's really a shame that it's become so popular thanks to XBOX360 and PS3.

Yeah, I just bought an X2010 and BOOM! :dopey: Instant pauper but it's all good, besides I have about 11mil in my second account.

It's actually not very hard to get just do the math in your head and try to buy used cars that end in a number that when bought will bring your total amount to a 0 than just buy stuff till it perfectly ends with no money left

If you have enough time to get trophies then by all means do so. It builds your reputation as a gamer. If you can't get the gold & platinum for GT5, then at least go for all the others.
