So the time has finally come that I pretty much need to get my own ISP. I cannot afford broadband unfortunately but I would like a "faster" connection than 48.8  I know these web accelerators don't actually make the internet faster but I was thinking of getting Netscape w/ web accelerator or a unknown company like All2easy.net

What do you guys think? Can you guys recommend a better ISP?

I'm also going to have a slight issue of getting everyone to switch over to my new address for e-mail. Is there a way to do this easily?

Thanks for your help

Nick

Both Comcast and SBC have their broadband services at $19.95. I don't know about SBC, but Comcast has 4 Mbps down and 384 Kbps up.

I don't know about you but I've had bad experiences from SBC at work and friends places so they are out of the question. $19.95 is just too much for me right now. :( Thanks for the advice though.

edit:

Actually Bellsouth's promotional deal sounds good but I can't find what the charge would be after 3 mo. Although I could use my friends tactic of calling them to threaten to leave if they don't let me continue the promotional price. :dopey:

PM me your email and i'll give you an invite to gmail if you want. this way, no matter what isp you have, you can keep the same email address.

you should be able to send out a mass email to everyone on your list SOMEHOW though...

I actually have Gmail already and have started the process for people that I have on my address book but it's places that would try to contact me that I'm worried about. For example I may have given my email to some business and or a service I use, they would lose their connection to me because my old ISP AOL  wouldn't forward it to my new address. Thanks for the offer though.
