Im having trouble installing my Netgear FA310TX Fast Ethernet PCI Card.

The problem is: When I put the card into my computer, and I go the add new hardware in the control panel, and when I get there, It says to locate the install files. So then I put in the floppy disk and and it serches for the install file. But after its done serching, it says that windows can't find the install files in the selected drives. (floppy disk drives)

The floppy disk works because I was able to open it in this computer, and found the installation process that I followed step by step on the computer that I want to intall the card on but then I got the same error as I did above.

Please help. :(

Is there not an application on the floppy that installs the drivers for you? I'm not familiar with the way Netgear does their drivers. You can go here and at least get the latest versions of the drivers. You can download that file and extract it to a folder (be sure to put the file into a folder before you run it or it will make a mess of your desktop (: ). Then run the Add Hardware wizard again and spacifically select the folder you just extracted the new drivers to.

Hope this helps!

Maybe his operating system is new enough that he can use the driver's for NIC's that came with it. Otherwise he should have a CD or Floppy with the drivers.

I'm not really one to call people stupid, but that's a really ignorant reply. He said that he tried to install from the drivers on the floppy that came with the NIC and Windows said it found no drivers that would work with his hardware - Windows defaultly searches its own driver database before it looks to alternative media.

This could help but I still need to figure out a way to get the file to the other computer.

Ha! well it's less than a meg, so you could put it on a floppy too. However, if the version number listed on the current floppy is the same as the one on the website, don't waste your time.

I fixed the problem. It turns out that my A: drive wasn't connected to my motherboard so thats why it didn't find the installation files.
