:D

since my useless pc got another virus, i've been having problems connecting my ps3 to the network. it's always been connected before, but i noticed since my pc got infected, my ps3 lost connection to the internet and is having trouble doing so. what does the virus (if any) have anything to do with this ? everytime i try to connect to psn, my ps3 gives me a network error. any clues ? i already tried restoring the ps3 and all that. what should i do?

Maybe something may have changed in the router settings because of the virus? Did you do a connection test? Did it connect to the router? (wired/wireless?)

i tried even re-doing the settings :( and no luck. and yes i tried testing the connection settings, and nothing. perhaps it's the virus, which is my number one guess. but the thing is, even when my pc had the virus for the first time, i could always connect the ps3 to the web, just that one day when it suddenly went offline and gave me a network error message. after that i couldn't connect the ps3 anymore. now i think something in my router or internet settings did change, coz i've lost one access point that i used to connect to as well. i dont know how though :D

Is your PS3 connected via your PC, or to a router?

If its via the PC then it might be the virus, if its going direct to a router then I doubt its the virus!

What happens if you reset your router settings, then dis-connect your PC? My guess is that you will get the same results regardless of whether or not your PC is connected.

Are you using bittorrent?? I had a problem where when I used torrent I would get kicked off PSN every 5 minutes or so. As soon as I turn off bittorrent on all my PC's I could log on and play on PSN for hours without any problems!

One theory is that the virus might be using the same ports as the PS3 to transmit data back to whoever made it, so thats why your PS3 is getting booted off.

If you dis-connect your PC from the router or turn it off and you still get the same problem you can rule out the virus being the cause! If that fixes your problem then its probably the virus!

More importantly....why are you busy trying to get your PS3 back online when you have a friggen virus on your PC?!?!?!?!?! FIRST get rid of the virus and be 110% sure its gone!

THEN mess about trying to get the PS3 back online!

Yeah, get rid of the virus, if you don't already, download AVG (http://free.grisoft.com), and get that thing off of your PC.

I might also recommend that you uninstall any anti-virus software you have on there (if any) before installing AVG, unless it is something you payed for, if so, then just turn off that anti-virus software's shield/resident monitor, etc.
