I have a linksys 4 port router with a PC, PS3, 360 and Wii hooked up via etherent cable. My problem is that my PS3 downloads at a extremely slow pace compared with my PC and 360. I ran a speedtest.net test on my PC and had around 9,000 kbs down and 1500kbs up. When I ran it on my PS3 I had only 3000kbs down and 1200kbs up. I have opened specific ports for GT5P recomended by Sony for better connection, but those didn't have any effect at all. I have Comcast broadband. I have always thought that just the PS3 was very slow downloading, but if there is anything you guys can suggest to increase the speed, something with my router maybe. Thanks.

I've always thought that PS3s have worse download speeds than other devices on the same network?

Make sure your PS3 is added to your DMZ Host list or is set to "On." Your speeds might increase. If they don't, or your PS3 is already added to your DMZ Host list, it's probably not your fault the PS3 is not downloading as quickly as it should.

i'm no networking expert, the ports I opened are allowed through my pcs firewall. Don't know anything about dmz.

If you have a static IP for the PS3, skip this if not, set it up as follows. I'm going to take a guess that you already have, though. Maybe not.

On the PS3, go to Network Settings --> Internet Connection Status and scribble down your current IP, Subnet Mask, Default router, etc. Now go to Internet Connection Settings. Under Address Settings, select Custom then for IP Address Setting select Manual. Enter in everything your wrote down earlier.

Open your router page (presumably 192.168.1.1? Maybe not) and go to Applications and Gaming. Under that, click on DMZ. Change DMZ to Enable (if necessary) and then enter in the PS3's static IP. Hit save Changes and you're done!

Please note: The above in no way makes any claims that it will help with your download speeds. :)

If you have any other questions, fire away!
