Does the PS3 slim support playback of MPEG2 and/or MPEG4/AAC files in -.ts containers in a (wired) LAN environment?

Or the other way round: are some of the file formats supported from an USB device missing LAN support?

As I don't have any Intel based Macs in my household, on the fly transcoding is not an option for me, but I do run a UPnP AV (aka DLNA) server already and that should work flawlessly with a PS3.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for pointing out that tool, but I'd rather like to know if the PS3 Slim, which I believe can't run Linux anymore, offers native support of said codecs in .ts containers and .ts file extention.

Transcoding is really not an option, because (a) the server lacks cpu power and (b) it's mainly for PVR recordings.

So if it would work with the PS3 Slim, I wouldn't get a second PVR.

I've been using TVersity for a couple of years now (old PS3), has worked with every file that I've tried over the years and is very easy to use. Probably also works with the slim PS3?
