Never buy, break-in or tune a car again.

I run Nascar at Daytona nightly which puts a ton of miles on a car quickly. After the car gets to about 6000 miles it starts losing permanent horsepower. The car still runs well but it is nice to have a new, shiny fresh car. This means you have to buy another car for $500,000, install pricey racing tires ($36,000 racing softs) and whatever parts you want. Now you change oil for $250 and break-in the car for 200 miles. I usually let a b-spec driver run the b-spec Extreme Series Nascar at Daytona until the car reaches about 200 miles. Now you need to change the oil again for $250 to reach the maximum of 892 horsepower. Since the b-spec driver bangs the car up (and assuming damage is on during the b-spec race) I have been doing a chassis maintenance afterwards which is also pricey and perhaps not necessary. After that I put my tunes on the car. As you can see this is a tedious process that takes a lot of time, credits and electricity. I have a solution which is obvious to most but it should help those that are still learning about the game.

My method was to create a 2nd account and build it up until you have some money and you are able to run the b-spec Extreme Series. You will also need to send and receive a friend request to your main account so you can send and receive gifts. At this point buy, mod and break-in the cars you want. I bought, broke-in and tuned 6 different Nascars. When your finished, back out of the game and then back up your game save data to a USB stick via the Game Save Utility. Now you can re-start the game and send a car to your 1st account. After your finished back out of the game again and then restore the game save data from your USB stick to your PS3's 2nd account. The car you sent to your 1st account is now also back in your 2nd account's garage and can be sent over and over again using this method.

You should be able to use this method on any car that is giftable and under $950,000. If you don't want to build up a 2nd account you can always buy, break-in and mod the car on your 1st account and then send to your 2nd account to be saved for sending later on.

P.S. Cars that are broken-in, modded and tuned make awesome gifts for your friends 👍.

Sorry but I'm just gonna LMAO at this, did you really just figure out how to duplicate cars? I'm really not a d**k so sorry if I sound like one, but this theory has been around since a couple months after GT5 released almost 1.5 years ago?

You all must have missed this part. This thread wasn't for you. It's for people still leaning all the complexities of GT5. I've had the game for 1 1/2 years and just recently created a 2nd account and these were my first dupes.

I send a lot of gifts and have never traded. Being able to gift a broke-in car makes a great gift to those that have a real life and can't play GT5 everyday.

This thread can also be found by anybody using a search engine. It is here for a posterity's sake and to give back for the help I have received. Take it or leave it.

First of all, breaking in a car doesn't have much to do with having a real life or not. I'm a full time student and employee who spends most of my free time with my girlfriend but I still have dozens of cars that are broken in and I get plenty of GT time. And besides, short of highly competitive racing, having a car broken in doesn't really mean much. Duping just to gain 200 miles and save a couple credits (which can easily be made at a rate of something like 6 million/hour) seems like more effort than just letting B-Spec Bob handle your troubles.

Just my opinion 👍

Sorry for not knowing about this, but after 6,000 miles even the engine restorations do not help it?

Or-

Buy and run in 6 cars on your main account. Back up your game. Race these online. Restore your game save. You lose the small change you make in the races. You lose the XP. But no messing around with your trade slots.

I have a "real life" and still make time for an hour every day on GT5. :sly:
The "real life" comment I made was clearly a shot at myself. I spend at least 2 to 3 hours a day playing GT5.

Would you rather spend your free time racing or breaking in cars? For me the answer is racing.

On the 5th I sent myself a freshly broken in Nascar. Now it has over 5000 miles on it and is almost to the point of losing permanent horsepower. Perhaps now you can see how convenient this is to me.

I thought about this but I'm really afraid to mess with my main account. I have several backups of my main account but I have never restored one.

If you have multiple backs up, all the more reason to do it. I've been restoring my main account since I've obtained all the cars I wanted since credits, days, UCD cycle, etc mean even less than nothing now. If I want to play GT5, I want to race and not waste time washing cars or changing oil, so I just have a USB stick in my PS3 at all times. Every time I finish playing GT, I delete my save and copy from the USB. It's much more efficient than dealing with multiple PSN accounts. I would only use that for getting new cars/tickets.

Have we really come to the point where we have to make an excuse for such things?

Unfortunately, yes, it seems so. Many long-time GTP users, who have played GT5 to death and know almost everything about it, are quick to jump on everyone's case for the smallest reasons, not knowing about some common information, or for the smallest mistake or misspelling. It's just sad. God forbid soemone might appear human and fallible, or risk sticking their neck out to ask a "stupid" question and be chastised in the forums LOL. So I can understand Bye Ya's apprehension in asking his question. But the positive and friendly spirit is still strong with many. :)

OP: thanks for sharing your information... While I personally cannot use it, I'm sure many GTP users will find it helpful, or at least an interesting point and an option for fleet maintenance.
