I think this car is more about the technology inside than outright performance or stunning looks. I read a review in a newspaper and yes it has got full internet, how it connects I dont know yet, it also has infared cameras that scan the road ahead similar to the night vision screen in the S Class, cameras that read road signs and alert the driver (similar to what was annouced for the Opel Insignia), aswell as a system where you can phone your car from anywhere so as it has the cabin temperature perfect. It is suppose to have a revolutionary suspension, but no real details on that yet.

I'd bet it uses wifi that can only connect when the car is stationary so at every stop sign and stoplight it makes an annoying noise and asks if you want to connect to the internet.

Its like constant 1 up-manship to find the most crazy technology to put in! As for the net if it works outside of Wi-Fi and G3 areas that would mean it would have satellitte broadband which would be insane!

I still do think they could have spent slightly longer on the looks especailly as the range is starting to look quite nice again. Maybe it looks better in real life?

Chinese in the same way a Chinese car looks... It looks like it's trying to be a BMW, rather than just being one. Stick a Geely or Chery badge on it and no one would notice the difference. It doesn't look like a German flagship model to me, but more like an Asian sedan really trying too hard. Could be the colors and wheel choices in the pictures, though.
Agreed. It doesn't look at all special or advanced. I'm especially curious about the tail light shape. What's with the droopy thing? Why is it there? It doesn't make any sense with the rest of the car, which doesn't make much sense anyway. Manufacturers like BMW are the ones that are supposed to actually design cars, as a opposed to trying to avoid others' design trademarks. There's a lot of things that look like they put them there because they couldn't think of anything else.

EDIT: Yes, Famine and Doug, I shook my head too. But I said to hell with it a long time ago.

The first car I ever drove was a 740iL. It was a much older model. I would not be so quick to say that if it was one of these uglified new models. If that was the case I'd be embarrassed.

Not only that, but it has all the prominent BMW styling traits without those subtle features that make it a BMW. If it were a Chinese car, I would almost expect a cream-type colour.

Great job BMW. The final production design, as hopefully illustrated by these leaked photos, shares many an element of the much-loved and fresh CS Concept. It is such an aesthetical breakthrough that I’d be keen to say the interior is near-perfect, with the only thing lacking on the outside being the rather bland and excessively linear bottom air vent on the front fascia. The diesel is a welcome addition also, and will surely help the sales of this new mega-luxurious, mega-sedan.
