New Cape Ring time trial; catch air at jump = invalid lap

I've not had much chance to experiment but I was getting reds in the Toyota Minolta and Audi R8 taking it flat out (135ish), and had to brake to somewhere around 120mph to be safe. Maybe a dab on the brakes right at the top of the hill to transfer the weight forward might help.
 
I cant go flat over the jump,got me angry at first,there is easy time to be made up if you can go flat over the jump.Thanks to Priano for his R8 '01 tune,i raised it for this but everything else is the same and 15th for me the morning after it came out is good :)

I seen that PIG. What other parts are you running?

One other question for the other's. Who is running their car at 95% HP with out adding any parts for extra power. I see adding parts to you car for extra power is a cruch that just me though.
 
Fix for red lapping at Cape Ring:

I'm using the 905 and it was invalided on every jump, except for taking it slower. The nose soars in the air at the jump and lands on the rear tires. I tried several adjustments to the suspension but no luck. Then I tried moving the ballast all the way forward and this enabled the car to land perfectly. No more red laps. I'm using 50 ballast.

I've had this happen before on an older rally trial...really not fun
 
just ease the throttle as u go over, not lift, just ease it so the car is stable. about half to three quarter throttle just before u leave the ground....having a good feel for when the car is stable is really necessary. You can get the power down better when ur on the ground anyways...i actually found a smaller jump was faster.
 
Watch the replay of the guy in the top R8. (he was P4 or 5 yesterday) His wing really pushes the back of the car down, as if he's set it on max down-force.
 
Every lap I try in the GTR R35 TC gives me an an ivalid lap over the jump. About to try the Zonda R
 
Audi R8 Race Car = Red Lap every time if you go flat out over the jump. Way to check things out before you put them online for the world PD. Your reputation will only be enhanced by this crap.

Really disappointed with this, not sure how some of you aren't getting it
 
I would love to run this TT but simply refuse to do so after seeing the problems everyone is having with the jump. Really wish PD would test this stuff out before the made it live. Having a decent run in the other time trial but I would really rather be running the race cars.

It's not a bug lm cars don't fly fact I think its true to real life you need to slow down

Getting airborne on Nurburgring must also be a mistake by PD. Someone should tell the Germans that their toll road is faulty. :nervous:

And then there's Trial Mountain. I can tell from some of the elevations and from seeing quite a few jumps in my time.

London has a track, but it never rains. 👎

The Top Gear test track is actually an airfield, Sebastian Vettol is sponsored by an energy drink and we can put wings on cars. Subliminal product placement?

I am specifically talking about the invalidation of laps from contact with the ground on the Cape Ring course that was making this seasonal a pain.

And you'd know that, if you had attempted to read what I said, rather than jumping on your rant wagon to abuse me unprovoked.



I am NOT talking about the jump, I am talking about the faulty invalidation system.

Now SIT DOWN.
 
The invalidation system is fine, you just need to stick the landing. A quick hard stab to the brakes at the last possible moment seems to be all that is needed.

If you could go flat out over the jump, people would complain that it's like an arcade game.

Try looking at it from a different perspective. ie. Red lap = damaged vehicle

So its not the jump its the landing confussed just slow down quick tap of brakes is all you need.

Unfortunately it has happened to me on multiple cars, where i do brake at the last minute. Sometimes I have landed almost perfectly and still got a red time. Grazing the bodywork on the ground should not equal invalid lap.
 
I'm sure that Like me, most here have noticed this particular anomaly, re; when getting airborne and not landing squarely or 'softly' will cause a red time, is not unusual here. It happens on many races where wheels leave the road.

In real life racing you don't "stick" landings...that's for ski-jumping and figure skating. The jump isn't realistic to begin with it only belongs in an Arcade game, no real race track would have cars jumping football fields 10 metres in the air. So if PD is going to make an Arcade style race track with an Arcade style jump, they should have enough sense to program it so you can make the jump without losing your laptime at the same time so long as you don't run into a barrier after landing. This kind of stuff just ruins these events for some people, including me. It's a minor annoyance that's totally unnecessary.
 
I'm surprised people are so annoyed by this. The track has a hump in it that will make the car take off at too high a speed. If you choose a car with very low ride height it will damage the car, hence a red. I noticed early on there was somebody quite high on the boards using an Escudo Dirt car. I haven't tried it yet but I assume this will survive the jump flat-out. It's not near the top now though, so it's obviously faster in an R8 even though you need to slow down for the jump. You have to choose the best car for the job and drive it according to its limits.

Totally agree.

@Moose: Its a penalty system for short cutting and hitting walls, not a damage system so landing the wrong way should not matter. You should not get a red time for this as there is no damage in these time trials. Only penalties for cheating (wall banging, short cutting) and the last I checked, jumping over a hill on the track was not cheating. You gain no signifacant advantage by jumping over that hill therefor you should not be penalized for it.

+1 there cargo,you should not be penalised for an un-compromised set-up,just penalised if you try to short cut etc. 👍

Thanks and yea, thats what I'm saying. You should not be penalized for a jump on a track. Is it unrealistic? Yes, it is but everyone needs to remember that this is just a game, a game which has alot of unrealistic characteristics to it. The tuning, NASCAR cars going in excess of 230 mph, engine sounds. I could go on and on. So, I really don't get these people saying that you should be penalized for this because LMP cars don't fly, etc. Of course they don't in real life, but this is a game that is far away from real life.

Funny guy you are, lol. I've seen that race and there is also another race that involved that car having problems getting airborn. In that situation, the problem lies with that particular car. I've seen both crashes where that same car gets airborn and ends badly. Other cars however, have no problem with that section of the track. I get your joke here tho.
