I thought so.
I just don't like the F-Body's especially, they seemed to me to want the power of a 'Vet with the handling of a Caviler and missed on both accounts. And the interior sucks.
The only valid point you made.
The 4th gen cars weren't horrid handlers, are easy to modify, and have enough aftermarket support to become competitive in a hurry for not much money. I mean, if you wanna stick with the narrow-minded mentality that all American cars don't handle well, that's fine, but, for the price point, the F-body cars were quite good in their time, far better than the underpowered (at that time) Mustang. Most of the Imports will be more expensive to build up. Only thing better would be to take the engine OUT of a F-body, stick it IN a Miata, and have yourself a modern-day Cobra. Flyin' Miata offers turnkey packages.
and most people I've seen driving them don't have mullets.
Sweet thanks for the input guys, I think i am leaning more towards the M3, I have a lust for high revving engines.
Heeeerrrroooowwwwwww
*snip*
Same mechanical bits and pieces underneath. Worth a look.
I dont think I qualify to drive an F-Body seeing as I have not inter-bred with my cousin yet. (And never will for that matter)
BMW sold the Z3 Coupe in Z3 2.8i and 3.0i forms, and had the M version too. Depending on the year, you had different engine options. Grab the 2001 or 2002 model and you get the kick-ass S54 engine from the E46 M3.
You can grab mid-life 2.8i and 3.0i models for cheap ($7-10K), which surprised the hell out of me considering how rare the car is. There aren't many M models available around here, but I'm sure you could easily find a well-kept model for not too much money.
MKIV .:R32 was my first choice but found out I wouldn't be able to secure the molah. Boo 👎If I'm honest though, the VR6 across the board at VW is a bit overrated given the overall ability of the 1.8T to be a multi-purpose engine. Tiny modifications can radically alter the performance of the vehicle, and in my mind, going for the 1.8T for the Audi would be a better idea. Between the two at least.
If we want to talk performance VWs, going with the actual VW models makes more sense. This is still before Audi really became its own legitimate competitor to BMW and Mercedes, and were still pushing dressed-up cars from Wolfsburg. Prices will be lower, build quality is about the same, and the parts are nearly identical. A late-model MKIV Jetta GLI would be just as capable, let alone the MKIV R32 (may be hard to find in the price range).
