Well i recently Posted that i would like to Purchase a BMW and my price limit is 8k well ive since moved my tastes.

I was looking all across the spectrum, and settled.

Im looking at A Honda Civic, Or a BMW.

But im More leaning towards the Honda, because ive always wanted to be able to well pardon my language "Pimp my ride" and it would be a little easier to do on a Civic as opposed to a BMW. depending.

Ive been looking and i can find a ton around me. some that are decently priced, like http://detroit.craigslist.org/cto/1172149553.html it has 90K miles but the person says it still runs great.

Im not to familiar with Hondas so i May be asking around the forums for assistance with this and that. I was looking at Keef's 99 Honda Civic SI and it just Inspired me to get a Civic. i love the 2 door, i dont care if its stock or not, if it is stock ill be changing much on my own but as i get a steady cash flow.

ok, thats enough for now ill shut up lol.

Don't buy a car from Dearborn, especially that Civic from Dearborn.

If you want a Civic, don't buy one that's been tarted up by some wannabe thug. Go out to the suburbs and buy one from an older couple, you'll know they have taken care of it and not hooned around with it.

lol ill stay away from Dearborn. Ill check out and look for something that an old couple or just someone who took care of it is selling. i found a few on craigslist stock and what not, just mostly in Silver and i dont much like the silver, i would like a black or a red. anyways not important.

DO NOT buy a car that has been modified in any way. It just asks for trouble. Buying a car from an elderly person/coupe or responsible adult over 40 years of age is the smart way to go.

Yeah. You pay Bimmer tax for the same sorts of parts on the BMW that you would get for the Civic, which will have 50 different brands for any kind of aftermarket part you could want. Plus, Hondas in general are unbelievably easy to work on, cheap and easy to find parts for. Ever wonder why there are so many motor-swapped Hondas out there? Because they are cake to work on.

So comparing a Civic to a 3-series? Why does this seem so strange to me?

A well-kept EK could be a nice car to work around, and by day's end, I think it would be the better choice. I'd skip the Detroit area and start to look more toward Ann Arbor, or better yet, slightly more "import-friendly" Grand Rapids. Its a three-hour drive, but you're likely to find cars in much better shape, probably at better prices as well.
