NEW CAR!!!!!!

Chevrolet Nova Sedan (AE82) '88
4A-LC 1.6L 4-cyl, Carb'd, 75 Hp or-so, 3-speed Auto
Front Engine-Front Drive, Fully independent suspension, strut-type front and rear
moslty rust free body, feels much more solid than the '87 I had been sharing with my bro.
No paint oxidation whatsoever
Silver w/Panda (Black and white) interior

Have pic up soon...

I bet it'll be fun, having a beater like that :sly:

My first car was a blast to drive because I didn't worry about it :)

Not a beater, surprisingly...all the metal's straight and no dents or cancer. clean as a whistle. like one of the used cars in Gran Turismo.

So, no I can't drive the wheels off it.

Daily driver, but perhaps spicing things up with a 4A-GE and a 5-Speed.

First, though, there's a couple spots of rust, one on the front fender, and on the insides of the rear fenders. Then, the Wheels get painted black, Chrome trim rings and lugnuts and the silver Center Cap applied. After that, We look for the 4A-GE, likely out of a MR2, since those used the front-drive Transaxle, unless we can find a Front-Driver with the GE, or a Five speed that will bolt right up.

Finally, and this'll be the hard part, finding the struts for a stock Twin-Cam Nova.

i had an 89 corolla. boy what an appliance. i couldnt get any hint of performance out of it. but iremembered that in south africa we had 2.0 liter twin cams that were serious fun. i couldnt replicate that. that was a drag.

have fun.

I think youve got a kick ass idea Jim. Im currently trying to get my hands on a 89 Dodge Colt turbo. I think your grocery getter is going to be a real hoot with a 4a-ge! I see boost in your future...

No Big Spoiler for me. Perhaps some repro "SS" emblems for a '68 Nova to annoy the "Chevy II" crowd once the -GE's installed. Might get a belt-driven blower for it...once I cecoup the losses from the -GE/5-Speed Conversion.

hmm. SS Twin Cam 16.....

Well, the struts I wouldn't be surprised if they were easy to find. Considering the car shares 90% of it's parts with the Toyota Corolla, which has one of the larger aftermarket followings of it's time. You might be surprised.

I'm not talking aftermarket struts, at least at first, i'm talking OEM-spec TwinCam Nova struts, which are seperate items from the standard struts. I may, however, be able to find the right Corolla Sedan parts...

According to several searches online, the 83-87 Novas are all very similar. Here are a couple random pics I found for these years.
At least you will get good gas mileage with the 75hp 4 cylinder.

THe Vauxhall hatch on that manual looks a little different, and all American Novas came with 1600cc Toyota 4A engines, But the Blue Sedan looks like mine. I have a pic of me and the car taken...just need to get it into my Flash drive and take it to school or work....

I don't use my home connection. 56K. craaaaap...

EDIT: the Vauxhall Nova's the Opel Corsa. the Chevrolet Nova is the Toyota Corolla AE82.

I know nothing about these...are the Front or Real drivers ?

***EDIT***

NM I am an idiot...

( just actually read above )

wo0t, a muscle car. hows it run?

Not that Nova. That's the Chevy II and X-body. They stopped building that one in 1979.

Mine is a Sedan based on the AE82 Corolla. It's technically a re-badged Toyota Sprinter. Production started in '85, ended in '88

that being said, it runs damn well, thank you.

HACKr
It'll probably last forever. Tuff little machine.

Maaaaybe....If i keep the salt off it....I actually Live in Central Illiniois, well into the rustbelt....

Good ol' american manufacturers, taking pretty much every prestigious name they've ever had and applying it to front-wheel-drive compact/family cars and such...

Chevrolet Impala, Plymouth Duster, Mercury Cougar, etc......
