Well GTPlanet'ers, following the fantastic thread by jesper, I am about to embark on my own cockpit build, I won a pair of front seats (From a citroen AX GT!) from eBay yesterday, my DFP has just arrived an hour ago, and I am going to get home tonight and measure up for the timber required, which I should be able to collect this weekend! Splendid!

I am using Jespers design as the basis, but with a few little modifications (sequential shifter to go on the LEFT hand side, as I am a brit and don't care for using my right hand to change gear!), I am not going full-hardcore with the aluminium, but I will try my hardest to make it a tidy install. Its great what you can do once you have a divorce!

Keep eyes peeled! Should get some pictures up soon :)

Prototype 1 taking shape on the lounge floor... Made the "ladder" chassis from some old wardrobe timber I had laying around... As soon as I placed the seat on it I saw a far better way to make it - stay tuned, more pictures tomorrow all being well (need to get timber!).

Cheers,

Why is it that some people just can't NOT post if it isn't relevant(?). All of you who replied, did so unnecesserally. Ruining what could be another interesting cockpit building thread.

When you say Jespers Design? Do you have a pic of his. I'm about to make anouther cockpit for my brother but i will probably won't build it like mine. Just curious to see Jespers design.

This needs its own topic?

Stop spamming a thread, that is under construction. Read somthing else.
At least dan0h has a dream!

So encourage the guy, give advise, or go play tennis or something else.
He has started his thread, so let's see what he can do with it.

:)

This needs its own topic?

Honestly? Yes!
Why? Submitted anywhere else would be considered Hi-Jacking someone elses thread (IMHO that is!)

Now the next time you have a thought about someone's topic....regardless of what that topic is....and you have nothing positive to submit, then keep the thought to yourself and spare the rest of us from reading your posts!

Peace-

What, you mean like your post which wasn't relevant to the topic either?

I was just sticking up for the guy...

Good luck with your project, DanOh, AX GT seats are pretty comfy too!

Someone needs to tell the less educated members that making dumb arse remarks that aren't relevant to the topic is just that... dumb arse. You made two pointless comments yourself, neither of which were associated with just sticking up for the guy... or the topic. Let's just hope that DanOh still comes back with updates.

^ everytime you flame, god kills a kitten lol
Telling someone that the existing "build your own cockpit" topic might be more appropriate than creating a new "build your own cockpit" topic is flaming? We must have a lot of "flaming" moderators then! People need to have some basic respect for other's opinions.

I am shocked at the behavior that is being tolerated here by forum moderators and administrators.

I am very happy overall with GTPlanet, but I have 2 big problems and have gotten flamed for pointing them out.

#1 -- huge multi-page conjecture topics such as "will GT4 have garage battle?" and "will GT4 have drag racing?", etc. have been amended to talk about these topics now that GT4 is out. These topics should have probably been closed and new topics started. Otherwise we get dozens of users reading the first few pages of these threads and coming to the conclusion that GT4 does NOT have these features.

#2 -- people not using existing topics. We now have 3 cockpit threads and several "the license tests are too hard" topics. Why not combine them?

Is everyone so insecure here that they cannot accept ideas which would improve the forum experience for long-time as well as new members?

hmm id love to make my own cokcpit too. itd cost me nearly 500 to actually buy bucket seats and no... im not going all out and actually buying the dashboard and gauges (interesting thought though). sparco seat with sparco sticker for my universal madcatz steering wheel. =D

I'll be the first to apologize for my statement, but in my defense, I hate those members who feel the urge to make the kind of remarks that Feldon23 made when it would have saved him and US time by merely moving onto the next topic if this one wasn't something he was interested in!

I mean, I see TONS of topics that don't really interest me on this forum, yet I can refrain from making unnessary remarks in them...why can't he?

Whether or not the MODS are overworked or not, a MOD still approved this thread, therefore, his remark was meaningless and without merrit!

However, I can't take responsibity for those who posted AFTER me and said the same thing...Besides, this isn't the first time someones made a unnecessary comment that had no bearing on the subject at hand and didn't get rattled for it by other members!

OT: Just a FYI...it's either 'can not' or 'cant' ...but never can't NOT...because in essense, you've just said "can not not"....:D

Here's my cocpit: I sit on the edge of my bed and use a regular ps2 controller. I'll have to post some pictures of it. I'm such a loser. Looking forward to your pics, though. I get a kick out of seeing people's cockpit designs.

lol nice try, but actually my statement was perfectly correct. What i said was that people cannot NOT post i.e. they can't help themselves. Think about it logically:

"I can't not post" basically means "I can't physically stop myself from not posting.". I am a compulsive poster. I have no self control. I can't not post.

Ok lets end this here, before we all get baninated.

I was making an abjecture about your avatar, more than the flaming issue, 'my bad' as they say :indiff:

@donbenni, I am very well educated. Whether or not I employ my intelligence to this discussion is my choice, evidently in your opinion I don't here :) Perhaps I am just using the fora as a place to inject some humour and discussion ...On another forum I frequent, wit and banter is postively encouraged so accept my apologies if I have upset the status quo at GTP.

I do agree with you that we'll get banned if we don't stop arguing, however, so let's put this to bed. :sly:

You're shocked at bad behaviour on an internet forum? You just got your first dialup connection did you?

well why do you need to spend money on a cockpit when i only need my couch and a dualschock controler

oh and something to drink and to eat
