New Dodge Viper Team Oreca Race Car

Why did they replace the old white & purple Dodge Viper Team Oreca Race Car with the newer red one? I wish they had both. The old white & purple one was my favorite race car in GT2. I loved it's half purple hood and appearance. This red one looks kinda lame to me. I wish they would add the old one to the game. Here's a pic of the old real one:

Dodge/Chrysler wasn't really making the GTSr Vipers. In North America, the GTSR ran under the Dodge name, but since the viper was sold as a Chrysler in most other countries, and GT racing is more popular in such countries, they raced them as Chryslers pretty much everywhere except North America.

The Vipers were being produced by Dodge, Oreca and Reynard Motorsport, since Dodge seemed to care less about the Viper, they allowed the "non-race" production GTSr's to be built by Oreca and Reynard wholly and that's when the paintjob changed.
 
That's blue, you know? The French Flag isn't red, white and purple :sly:
 
Some people are confused about facts here. That is the Dodge Viper GTS R, which won the Le Man GTS class out right in '99. The car is basically a street car, most of it is unchanged except for the body shell and it's underlying safety cage, engine and it's components are the same as the street car. I was surprised that PD didn't include the '99 class winners in GT post GT2. They have more historical significance than the red vipers do or at least equal standing with them.

The colors were not of the french flag, they were because of the US origins of the car, check the roof for the stripes of Old Glory. Team Oreca was very successful with the Viper, that is why for Le Mans the chose to use such a paint job. I think it's one of the best looking Viper paint jobs to ever grace that car. In fact because of Viper's success there was a special limited run Viper GTS/R model built and sold of I think 200 or so cars, with full race spec look. Giant spoiler, white and green race paint it basically looked like a GTS Race car but road legal(I believe).

My guess it was legal reason why the car is not in the game, but a paint shop will rectify that for me as I will remake that with ease as I did in FM3.
 
The 99 Oreca, White and Blue, and Blue are White (GT1/2 RM) are the best ones. I think the GTS-R we got in GT3 on is the ugliest of the bunch. Still the greatest race car in the game though. I have no idea why PD went with the color they did, but it's just another reason why the paint system used in GT5 comes up short.

The red, white, and blue Oreca Viper is what got me interested in the car in the first place. I really was sad to see them replace the ingame model with the red one in GT3.
 
offffffff good old memories from GT2 just loved those viper gts my fav was the Team Oreca with the white red and purple (lol) color scheme :)

EDIT: Oreca may be french but it does got an american flag on the roof ;)
 
I´m happy to see ther is some love for the Viper. This is my dream car, always been, always will be.

And its true. I miss the old Oreca Viper from GT2. I remember that in GT1 there was a white and blue stripes GTS-R also, am I right?

Or this. Who remembers it from GT1? Man, I wish the old RT10 made a comeback in GT5 with RM and all!

The only thing I regret, is the sound. Its been the same for all racing Vipers since GT1, and like in Forza 3, in GT5, the racing Viper has now a generic racing big block V8 sound.

Damn, I didn't remember STP Taisan Viper. It was a really magical car for me and I have great memories about it. It would be awesome to see the white & purple Team Oreca and STP Taisan Viper in future games.
 
It's not purple and white! The Oreca vipers were red, white and blue like I said before.
 
The blue white and Red vipers where the European GT colours where as the Red with white strips was for the American Lemans series. Love all vipers Race and Road there and awesome brutish car :D

the RT/10 Deffo needs adding and the SRT10 needs to be a premium ;)
 
Faviorite car of all times. Shoulda been a RM of the GTS or rst10 or RT/10 it woulda blast by the ZR1 with EASY!!

Not to go all OT here, but how long did it take and who do you think they got to paint all of those tires around that track? :)

Some people did it properly and painted each one but others got it done faster by duping them.
