That's probably the only way he'll be #4 in the field, anyway.

M4X CHILTON
WTF1 on twitter made a joke become rumour by suggesting that Lewis Hamilton picked 44 because it is the UK dialling code!!!

Jules Bianchi picked my favourite number, in Italy (it's probably our exclusive ), 17 is way more 'unlucky' than 13, the Drake (Enzo Ferrari) hated the 17 on racing cars :p
Hulkenberg has the Villeneuve number, maybe we'll se him and the 27 again on a Ferrari?

And it is the most stupidly obscure superstition. Ever.

In Roman numerals, 17 is XVII, which is an anagram for the Latin word VIXI. VIXI translates as "I have seen" or "I have lived", with the implication being that, in the present tense, it means "I am dead".

Like I said, stupid and obscure.

I have seen a lot of people claim that it is a sign Hulkenberg will move to Ferrari. They are the same people who are upset that Chilton picked #4, because he would not deserve such a low number under the old system of numbers.

With former #4's being driven by outstanding talent like Slim Borgudd, Brian Henton, Mike Thackwell, and Julian Bailey it's easy to see why...

Those same people also think that Chilton should be #19, his best qualifying performance; #22, his WDC position in 2013; or #99, last. Even though all three numbers are taken.

Nice to see someone who knows the real story behind it, anyway the right translation should be 'Io vissi' (I have lived, I studied latin at high school, never liked it).
About the 27, well...Formula 1 and numbers have a strong connection, the number '0' for Damon Hill, Nigel Mansell's 5, Alesi/Villeneuve 27 (the unused 13, again) and so on...
There where rumors about Hulkenberg joining Ferrari and a lot of people look at the 27 as a 'sign'. The world is full of superstition and superstitious. :p

I'm a teacher myself. I teach English, both the technical aspects and literature. I picked up a bit of Latin here and there, like in media res, and a little bit of Greek. I remember once I had a bunch of extremely difficult fourteen year-old boys whose regular teacher had left them a worksheet on the origins of St. Valentine's Day in the middle of September, which made for the worst lesson plan ever. But it was Friday the 13th, so I managed to segue it into a discussion of why that day is considered unlucky, and we started getting into phobias. There was an Italian kid who told me about superstitions surrounding number 17, which always stuck with me because it's such a convoluted phobia (an anagram of a number in a language that is mostly unused), and also because 17 is my lucky number - my favourite racing driver, Dick Johnson, used to use it.

Guess what, this weeks includes Friday the 17th, I'm expecting a bunch of frightened people and me, here's my Mazda in GT6 ...

I thought Ricciardo picked #3 because he didn't want to be an #2 driver…
No one will pick the number 2, the 2nd is the 1st loser

From this day forth, Valtteri Bottas will be referred to as "Val77eri Bo77as".

Riccardo's helmet has a Honey Badger on it, and it say "What would he do?.

For now, this is the best helmet for this year.

Alonso's helmet, meh:

I'm bummed out only a couple guys have numbers on their sides so far, I thought that should've been mandatory! DR's is barely there, Alonso's is too small too :/

Marcus Ericsson has a small number 9 on the side of his helmet.

The numbers on the top of the helmets is a good place since that's where the onboard camera will be.
