I'd never take the Kia, there's a certain point where embarassment colides with decency.

Nice car, I'll soon be in the market for an e30 coupe. Not until I get a decent job, which isn't until the snow melts, which isn't until it start to snow, which isn't until November. Oh well.

I can't wait for the snow to fall...it makes driving to school or work so much more entertaining... :trouble:

Which is balls since it complies with every rule and regulation nessesary to qualify it as a production road car. Just because it has a lesser focus on comfort and a largerone on performance doesn't prevent it from being a production car.

That's the technical definition, and you're right. What I was referring to was the fact that many people consider the Radicals to be too track-focused to be "real" production cars. It's something that people often disagree on.

Yeah but the people that dissagree on it are wrong at best, since it's not an opinionated thing, it's down to a set of rules and regualtions that define a production road car not my opinion. Unfortunately though you are right that theres plenty of people that still say it's not a proper road car. Bottom line, they're wrong.

The problem is, "street-legal production car" has an irrefutable definition, but the definition of "proper road car" is rather vague and will vary from person to person.

I, for one, would argue that Radicals aren't proper road cars. They're just track cars that are allowed to drive on the street. I don't really have an idea where the borderline between "track car" and "road car" lies, but the Radical is definitely off the deep end.

this all sounds very cool. i wish i could drive one of these things. anyone seen them driving one of these on 5th gear? it wasnt this one but a differen model of it.

and you havent heard of a v8 bike? you must not know about the boss hoss then... they use either a 350 chevy small block or a 454 big block chevy.

As far as several-cylinder bikes go, there's always the Dodge Tomahawk, but that isn't really a fair example...

Not practical for anything, really.

I think maybe street legal should at least include AC a hood and windows. If you tried to drive a Radical in this country, you'd be dead of heat stroke in the first five minutes of traffic.

Find me a list of the 15 fastest laps around the 'Ring and tell me how many of those had AC.

It's a huge waste of weight, no performance car should have any of the sort. I'd rather sweat a bit, and only realize when I step out of the car.

If I'm buying a production road car it MUST have air conditioning, if its for the track then I dont want A/C.

That was my point.

a/c is rather pointless when you have windows that roll down. i dont think it needs to have a/c when it has no windows... maybe windows should be something it needs to be called a street car...

And a trunk. A one golf bag trunk should be the minimum requirement.

Say that when you're sitting in a traffic jam at the height of summer with your windows rolled down and sweat dripping from you...

Having your windows open only really makes a difference when the car is moving at a decent speed.

On a track...of course...you don't need A/C but on the roads it's a different matter...

*A Radical SR8 pulls off of the track, and parks in a spot near the Gruene Hoelle. 37 seconds later, a Porsche Carrera GT pulls up and parks next to the Radical. The Porsche driver steps out of his car, and walks over to the Radical driver, who is standing next to his car, rubbing his sore bum.*

"That's a really fast car you've got there!" the Porsche driver exclaims.

"What?!" yells the sweaty, panting Radical driver.

"I said, that's a really fast car you've got there!" the Porsche driver yells back.

"Oh!! I can barely hear you, my ears are ringing!" replies the Radical driver.

"Ah, I see. Well, I'm going to head home now, listening to my CDs while enjoying the back roads, kept cool by my air conditioner. Nice car." explains the Porsche driver.

*the Porsche driver waves as he returns to his car, and drives off.*

"Man, where the hell is Karl? He was supposed to be here with the truck at 4:30....I don't want to have to drive home again..." mutters the Radical driver.

BS I'd mob the hell outta that car going home!

well if that was the minimum we wouldnt have the ford gt40 or the toyota gt1... both had road going versions...

i dont have a/c in my civic and i'm not complaining... no ps either. its still a road car though.

And cupholders, you definitely need at least one cupholder to qualify as a road car. :D

Crank windows and manual locks are about 10 virtual hp....

BUT lack of AC and Power Steering is easily 3-5hp... really... I'm serious this time. :scared:

 When we were kids, we used to call the A/C Off button the "turbo" button.
