New Free run mode for GT4

I have always thought the menus were fine.
In simulation mode nothing is more than 6 or 7 buttons away.
Since they made an entirely new GUI, I'm sure that they gave it
plenty of thought. I look forward to using the new system.
Certain people keep saying that they want this here or that there,
when it doesn't really matter what you want.
When we see the game, we will understand why they made it that way.
Heaven forbid that you might have to wait 4 extra seconds or push
2 more buttons...or actually start from the line in order to practice a couple
of turns ( I really don't see the point in that!) like you're supposed too!

I guess if Polyphony was so smart, they would make each copy specifically tailored to the customer.
But then somebody would start bichtin' 'bout the operators trying to take
their order.

Everybody seems to want this or that but what we should just do is let it come as it comes.

Uh... where'd menus come into this?

Nothing anyone is suggesting here is that outrageous.

Oh, and I'd wager what people want is quite important to them. Whether it's important to you or PD is another story.

It doesn't take disk space...

O.k. If it doesnt take disc space where the hell is the programme stored for all this to work.
There would have to be a programme for the user to select the test corners on each of the 100 tracks. Also a programme to record the lap times and video capture. Also screen menus to make it work.
Please explain to me how it does not take up disc space.
Thats like saying I can have 10 skylines and then add 10 more Skylines and not take up any more space than the original 10 took up.
It would certainly take up development time.

Yeah, as is, there's just a file somewhere with a set list of coordinates for each test and times, and that's called. To create an interface that edits your own for that would require disc space. Throwing together your own parts of tracks, lol, pipe dream.

I don't see what is wrong with making a few suggestions or wish lists :)

I have been having an idea that I would like implemented into GT4.

Since getting my Logitech GFPro wheel I have been playing with the free run mode so much more than I used too. It would be cool if when we do a lap with a particular car that it records the time on a separate list. By that I mean if you run the track with a 1500bhp Skyline you are going to knock off or delete all those hard earned times with your mini. It would be cool if the mini and the skyline had separate time trial lists.

ummm yeah that is my wish/list suggestion. :)

program 👍

That 100 tracks rumor has been denied a long time ago.. there will be 50+ tracks in GT4, but not more then 80 (including Photo Mode locations).

Of coarse it takes disk space. So does the beep telling you that your file is loaded. Just not as much as you think. As pointed earlier in the thread, this idea is basically License Tests made customizable (not a word). It just would take a bit of the Dual-Layered DVDs (+/- 6 Gigs per DVD). All of the programs are already there, so again, they wouldn't be needed to be added again to waste your valuable disk space. All the program would have to do is save replays of the corner(s) you just ran. Think of Free Run in GT3. I'd be willing to bet that it didn't take more then 2-3mb on the DVD.

i think that you are a bit mixed up here. i believe the topic of this thread is new free run mode for gt4, not a wish/list suggestion.

My suggestion was along the same lines as the thread topic.

The 100 tracks "rumor" was announced in the GT4 press release at E3 '03.

and the rumour wash quelled by the E3 2004 release which stated over 50 tracks, plus 16 photo mode only locations.

However, 100 is 50+ so all hope is not lost... when it comes to #s of things in GT, PD always has understated and over delivered (the only way to fly!)

........boahhh 1000 trax!!!....but i don´t think that there were so many in GT-GT4Prologur....so what do u think how many new trax there will be???
