Ok...i've been drifting in GT3 for over a year now...but...there not as clean as ones ive seen in the videos...i.e. Drift Tribute!! Most of mine either catch too early in the drift...or i just plain smack the wall!! Ive looked @ a few set-ups on here...& came across using simulation tires. I put these on & now...its MUCH easier to get sideways...but the car doesnt turn...it stays in the line i entered with & off into the wall again! OR...it'll get about half way thru the turn & spin-out no matter if im countering or not. So...any tips???
Thanks

For me, this was the key : throttle control.

The analog stick seems to only have two increments other than neutral, so this ain't great for precision. My steering set's pedal works the same, so it sucks just as bad. I have yet to use an analog controller of any kind that has a high resolution of increments.

So, you may find that blipping the throttle more useful than keeping it down. If you keep it at the top of the revs for even a fraction longer, you're probably gonna spin out. You'll have to find the range to keep the revs in to maintain and control a drift. For me, it's usually in a 2000rpm range at the top below the redline in general.

This is just me though, the gods should speak themselves.

i recommand that you use the logitch wheel well at least for me and im now drifting for about 2 weeks and usally get my drifts same as in the movie but not those 360s spins

Any set-up suggestions? Like gear ratios...etc? As of now i have everyone of my cars gear'd for 1/4 mile...WIDE!! Should i use short gear ratios? Camber? Struts? Anything would be appreciated. Thanks...

change the gear ratios to whatever feels comfortable to you. I find the car easier to control when in the power band which is usually in the upper half of the tachometer.
basically, just keep revs up

It wouldn't really be an analog controllel if it didn't have more than just 2 increments.... the buttons are precise enough cause they have 256 increments each.
Now for simple drifting tips:
You don't steer with just countering, you have to have precise throttle control.
If the car starts to spin just lighten the throttle a bit and vice versa.
Too close gearing can disturb your drift a lot if you use automatic transmission. I suggest you use manual to have more control.

Maybe I wasn't specific enough. The analog control itself has a wide range, as it is an analog control. But the game does not recognize much more than two positions other than zero. I use the analog stick on the pad for the throttle, and this is what I find. The buttons only have two positions other than 'unpressed'. They do not in any way have 256 increments. We're talking about electronic signal here, not how programmers interpret position.

Thanks for the tips, but I already know all that. And I don't use automatic transmission either. Never.

BUY THE FULL CUSTOMIZW LIMITED SLIP and raise the intial torque all the way up!!!!!... DROP THE CAR ... STIFFF SUSPENSION..... and if the car understeers a way to fix that is the toe angle of the rear tires make it positive or move it right.. POSITIVE TOE ANGLE ON THE BACK creates very slight oversteer... oh and if you have downforce turn that crap offf.... leave the downforce alone until you neeed to beat the races.. DOWNFORCES MAKES THE CAR very stable yet unpredictable when drifting.... you never know when the downforce will kick in and make the car strate again!SIMULATION TIRES OBVIOUSLY!! and TCS &ASM off... people will tell you rear brakes stronger, but i like cars to be driftable and drivable... what i mean is that i alll the cars i drift with can be raced merely by changing tires from SIMULATION... hence forth i use a 11 brake in the front and 9 brake in the rear... DOES ANY OF MY BABBLING make sense?????

well, yu can try the settings that cudaman posted at the top of this forum, his settings are pretty good for any car other than the MR cars. use those settings to see if yu like it or not. if yu wanna go for more top speed, lower the final gear ratio. if yu wanna go for hi torque, shorten it. if yu need more control, increase the camber angles in the front. usually, the LSD helps for cars that are hard to oversteer, like stock 4WDs. i.e. Skyline. also, make the rear suspension soft so that the rear would be able to lose traction easier. if i got any more ideas, i'll post them. i hope this helps ;)

It's an analog controller, and the electronic signal is what has the 256 increments!!! And the game does recognize them. Even GT2 does. No need to argue since i've confirmed this on an emulator.
Besides, if you check out the replays and look at the throttle meter, you'll see that it's plenty analog.
Maybe your hands just are too shaky and not accurate enough to use the controller??? .... just kidding....

changed the toe 2 positif ( right ) ex 6.0 front @ rear
& its really drift in the sharp corner ,just break swing cars with full acceleration just 4 skyline gtr-34 im not sure again other 4wd i never tried yet . but these setting are suitable 4 me & i can easyly drift with any tyre the best is s.soft tyre front @ normal on the back . at 700+hp i used the fleabass12 setting that i found at gtvault . just follow all the setting accept the rear toe . its really monster at trial mountain track the long u turn . u can easily drift through the corners with these & controable try first & make comments 10q setting . :D :) ;)  :trouble:

Yes it does. Don't worry about dumb questions being asked around here. There are lots of new people coming in everyday, like you :)
