Hi
Just dropping by to say I edited my first post with the chosen car : the 787B ... It's the only I can handle in Arcade mode :)

Maybe I just found myself a team-mate?!? :dopey:

Did some initial testing last night and so far .. the 787 has the thumbs up .. though there's lots more testing to be completed .

The Jag and Pug have been designated to the waste bin . { even though the Pug's brakes are the best of the bunch }

I think Fuji Speedway 90s should be the 80s version, much faster without the 2 chicanes, a much better GTP track

Also I think El Captain should be ditched. It's a junk track. Replace it with High Speed Ring or Seoul Central or some other high speed track

OK!
Nitro!

Please take this as a firm entry!

Name: Tyre King
Team: The ¡Three Amigos!
Teammates: Drew22 & Oldphart
Car: Tyre King - Jaguar XJR-9, Drew22 - Toyota 88C-V Minolta, Oldphart - Mazda 787B
Car Numbers: T.K. - 69, Drew22 - 47, Oldphart - 68
Sponsor: Old El Paso

I know I say a firm entry, and then leave some TBA's, but the team and members are set in stone.
So we are in!

I'll edit this post as I get car and number info from the guys!

BTW
Andy has to be 'Luck Day' (cos his hair matches)
J.R. has to be 'Dusty Bottoms' (cos he's the one left)
And I'll be 'Ned Nederlander' (as I'm the youngest, and best looking too!:sly: )

I agree with Earth!
It should be called El Crapitan!

Seoul central is a much better choice.👍 👍

But the difference between 80's & 90's Fuji, :indiff: As long as it ain't the 2005 version, I'm cool with it!

Earth, m.piedgros & ERacer will be forming a 3 car team. The name of the team is not finalized yet. But it looks as if we will all be driving Jaguars

Another suggestion, nitro 2005, I'm all for high speed high power racing here with these historic cars but if the cars become too fast they are no longer fun to drive.

Trying to drive a +20% HP Sauber C9 at the Nurburgring is going to be a nightmare. As for driving it at Le Mans II, I hope everyone has a steering wheel. It's hard to control a car traveling at 270mph (450kph) on a bumpy street. Not to mention there may be will spin at 100mph.

The cars already have near 1,000 HP and anything over that IMO is overkill. The cars will be so out of control they may not be fun to drive. The default horsepower on many of these historic cars is plenty IMO.

So is it possible if we can keep the HP below 1,000 throughout both the qualifying and race sessions?

Also, is it possible to have qualifying and the race take place within 1 week? 2 weeks per round will take 5 months, and to be quite honest, I dont know where I'll be 5 months from now.

Thanks.

It may be a bummer, but this time I don't agree with you Earth.

Having the quali and the race in one week, requires a MAJOR time commitment. If it co-incides with a race week in the JGTC or the LMS series it will seriously compromise the efforts that some of us can put in.

Even myself, who works from home and has more than the usual surfeat of free time, would struggle to do a full race week in the JGTC or LMS AND a quali + race in this series.
And seeing as Eats and Chris will probably get together and see to it that the race weeks alternate between those series (if the series overlap that is), it will probably be the case that we will have a full race to do every week.

Just my 2c worth

Neil

I'm still a little tired, so I'll answer all you queries later, OK? :)👍

If I may add my "big-newbie" 2 cents :
- I agree with Tyre King : "qualifying + race in 1 week" would be a formula quite hard for me to sustain :ouch: ...
- I'd love to race my 787B in El Capitan ( :scared:)

... BTW : Azevedojose, if you don't fear my newbieness, I'll be honoured to team with you :)

ok, i'm gonna make the following changes:

HP limit - 900-950hp
The Fuji round will stay at the 90's layout. The chicanes should play an important part in terms of traction and stuff.
I put El Capitan on the calender because the steep climb on the reverse layout made me think of Eau Rouge at Spa, so i thought it would make a nice addition. However, if enough people want me to get rid of it, then I will

I'm starting get a bit messed up about the qualifying and race layouts. I was originally going to set Monday to Wednesday as Qualifying days and Thursday to Saturday for the race, with Sunday as a chill day for everyone, so they can relax before the next race week. I didn't really want to have one week for qualifying and another for racing because, as Earth mentioned, it would take too long for me and i'm sure some other people. I wanted to it all in a week, so that it would bring down the chances of people going AWOL.

For now, the 1 week qualifying and race format stays. Any problems, speak to me.

Rules are rules ! I'll try to manage the 1 week thing :)

Thank you gz. You see, if 1 person's prepared to compromise, I'm pretty sure everyone else can. I mean think about it:

1 week qualifying, 1 week race: gives more time for people, but will eventually become too dragged out for people to manage and will cause people to go AWOL.

1 week qualifying+race: races get done quicker, so the series gets done quickly and people can move on to the next one. Plus, it may attract more drivers and even prompt a second series.

see?

I got the qualifying procedure for the GTPLMS series Sunday evening. I finished qualifying/practicing for New York Tuesday. For the last couple of days I've just been sitting around twiddling my thumbs.

BUT

I am only 1 person. Some here are trying to balance 2, 3 or more online race series at once.

I will be willing to compromise and have 1 week for qualifying and 1 week for the race. It would be greedy for me to try and have it done my way and not take in to account the situations of my fellow drivers.

So far gz and Tyre King both prefer the the 2 week format due to time restrictions. I do not have such time restrictions so I am willing to compromise and run a 2 weeks per round schedule.

Then there is Delfino, azevedojose, ERacer, Drew22, m.piedgros. What do they think? Maybe we can have a private vote and pm nitro2005 our preference of 1 or 2 weeks per round?

Well, like I said, the 1 week format is only in place for now. If enough people wish to use the 2 week format, then I will compromise and use that. It now just depends on whether people can compromise or not.

At the end of the day, I'm not fussed what system is used. Just as long as everyone (or most people) are happy, that's the main thing.

OK good lets move on I don't want to get the series sidetracked or anything

So when does the first race thread go up?

I'm looking to set it up in the next week or 2. Hopefully I'd like to start maybe even next week, provided everyone's ok with that.

Usually I prefer two weeks for each round, but this time, since Homologation Road Cars Tourney is almost at it's grand finale, I think I can compromise with one week (qualify+race).

I'm an easy going kind of fellow (No! Really?)

And I'll go with the flow, I was just voicing my opinion. 👍
1wk q+1wk race, 3 days q+3 days race, 3 days q+4 days race?

The misses'll agree with this, I'm easy! ;)
I would Just prefer the first option, for RL's sake.

Neil

Delfino would prefer a 2 week turn-around ; but in the interest of the sport , he'd happily compromise for a 1 week format { QF + Race }

Same here 👍

its great to hear that you're all prepared to compromise for the sake of the series. thank you.

ive been thinking about holding a week long test session.how does that sound?

A test session or two sounds great.

I just hope you are gonna get rid of El Crapitan from the schedule.

We ran it in the LMS recently, in both directions, and in the more powerful cars it was....... not exactly a nightmare, but enough of a lottery going over the hill to be pretty close.
The more powerful the car, the worse it gets, and these babies are over 200Hp more powerful than what we are using in the LMS.

So......?

Long story short, it wasn't very enjoyable (for me at least) and I would like to see it off the calender.

Neil

ok, el capitan will be removed and i will setup a test ASAP.
