Awesome lighting effects. The atmosphere seems very strange, very out there, loneliness.

Nice. I just hope my 9600XT isn't outdated by the time it comes out.

I hate to tell you it, but it already is. Or at least you can never get graphics like these on that card.

I think the requirement for the game is a Radeon 9800+ and a very fast processor.

I'm thinking of giving up on PC gaming. Technology moves too fast. I'd buy a multi-hundread dollar card to find it outdated in a few months. :grumpy:

Exactly my problem...got a 9800 pro in September for 700 (wholesale), now the bloody xt is less than 700...

In a couple weeks I'm getting a p3.2 with a gig of ram and a 9800pro, i'd wait for the new card to come out but i'm not paying for it so i'm not waiting for any price drops.

Yeah, if you want to run absolutely every single piece of eye candy the game has to offer. I had a Ti4200 before and there is no way that that card would be able to handle HL2.

I think it will be able to run the game, just not at super high resolutions or with every single detail on extreme settings(I get the game for free too because I bought the 9600XT).

I probably could use a faster processor though. I currently have an AMD 2100+.

Thats actually a very good display of the games physics system. The movement of those vehicles arent scripted. I mean, the spinning and lifting is scripted, but the actual shifting and rotating the cars do is not scripted.

Ive read numerous articles on the new physics system and its very impressive. Everything is so lifelike its almost unbelievable. The way bodies bend and twist and inevitably fly (from an explosion) is very realistic.

If anyone here has seen the videos that have been released (especially the e3 one) you'd be very very impressed by the physics engine...

I'm going to get the game whether i have to buy it or not just so i can witness the greatness that is HL2 myself, whether or not i have the guts to be able to play it for lengthy amounts of time. (It took me about a week to get to where i am now.. About 20 minutes total gameplay. The game just freaks me out!)

See I want this game, but i'm not going to buy a new graphics card just to play one game.
I already did that, about a year ago  But last July I was still counting on the game coming out in September, and I needed a replacement for the Radeon 7000 I had at the time. I swear to god a piece of cheese makes a better graphics card than that piece of cr*p. But the 9700 I bought was and is an excellent purchase; it still provides great fps even on brand new games.
