Jordan, said GTP6 would come around a week after 2004 or something like that. But I think he got delayed.. The current layout's fine.

The new design is turning out very nicely, it's just going quite a bit slower than I had planned. I wouldn't expect it for a few more weeks.

Wow, I can't belive it's that time already. I think it's awesome the way you re-deisgn the forums every year or so. I've been to forum's that havent been redesigned since they were first introduced. Hats off to you Jordan. 👍

well heh, i never said anything was wrong with this layout its nice indeed, but its just i was wonderign what was going on since it was mentioned a while ago and i didnt see any change so i was curious to see if there was going to be a change or not ;) thanks for the responses

Will GTPlanet "Lite" see afew tweaks and updates?

I think I mentioned this last year, down the bottom its copyright from 2000 - 2003, are we not 2004 and on "Lite" it goes back to 2002.

Oh, yes, GTP Lite will be a bit different, but the same essential stripped-down, simplified version of the main design.

GTP5 was implemented December 21, 2003. ;)

Forgot to make the birthday thread. . .

Sorry, man, gotta point and laugh here.

Deadlines? Who needs deadlines?

It's actually not coming along too well. I've had a bunch of unexpected delays and there are a few things that I did earlier that I am not very pleased with now, so I'm going to have to re-do some things I've already done. :indiff:

If you need any help I'd be glad to spend some time on it during the day. Just let me know.

What is involved with redoing the entire forum? Because it sure sounds like there is a lot, but I can't see how.
It's mostly graphics, HTML, and CSS. The problems come when I think something will be good, but in reality it just doesn't work and I have to come up with something else. It's tough finding a balance between beauty and usability.

If you need any help I'd be glad to spend some time on it during the day. Just let me know.
Thanks, but this is something that I enjoy doing myself. It gives me a better sense of accomplishment. :)

I know the feeling. I'm that way at work. People always ask if there's anything they can do to help (in crunch time situations) and usually it feels better to say I've done it myself. Also, they tend to get in the way more than actually help get anything done (:

But again, you can call on me if you need anything. Even cranking out tediously redundant images or whatever. I could even make a new batch of avatars. It might be time for another set anyway.

You know, Jordan, there are a bunch of nerds on this forum who, if you asked them, would not eat or sleep until a new layout was complete and bug-less (no offense to anyone). Maybe you should take advantage of that?

As always, thanks for your help, LM. I will be sure to call on you if I need anything. :)

Desiging and "constructing" each new version of the site, despite its hard work, is far and away one of my favorite things to do. Sure, I could let others do it, or even pay to have it done professionally, but that would take so much enjoyment from me. There's just a certain sense of satisfaction knowing that thousands of people are coming to look at something I created myself.

Yeah, I kinda forgot about that feeling of self-accomplishment. Well, just thought I'd let you know that if you need any help, just ask.

I just have to squeeze in an unsolicited comment from me into here – I can totally relate to what Jordan's saying. Website design is one of the most fun things on the face of this Earth (if you like that kind of stuff, of course), and it's something I spend hours upon hours on and never get tired of it. So you all let Jordan have his fun, you hear? ;) :D
