No it's a patch I would say, all other patches they have done have come at 03:00 hrs and only lasted an hour, plus the fact in other news on there they are wiping the leaderboards for the TGTT and fixing the corner cutting, so it is a patch

Whats with you muppets that start threads and confuse maintenance with patch? Yes there was a pattern in the past but we've had 2 lots of maintenance recently with no patch. Take maintenance scheduling with a grain of salt as to if or when a patch might be coming along....

Could have something there, but they do tend to announce patches in advance.

BTW, you're from Guernsey and your name's GTP_Plato not GTP_Priaulx?! :D

No need for you're attitude, if you had a brain cell and read the TGTT news on there, it would seem pretty obvious they are patching it. Can't you read?

ALL PATCHES!!! are between the hours of 03:00 to 04:00 BST

I am a fan of Andy Priaulx being local, but prefer Plato's style of driving :D

I'm just over all these threads being made when maintenance scheduling is announced claiming we're getting a patch. Still, got proof of a reliable source that yes there is indeed a patch coming?

lol, that corner cutting....downloaded the leaders ghost 1:14:xxx at that time and though: "WTF"?! He is cutting corners for that time....bahh how lame is that."

My best was a 1:19:xxx. I am ok with that ^^

You may be right, at least I hope so :)
I also notice (I don't know if always) that 1 hour maintenance is usually relevant to a patch.

Unfortunately I have the bad feeling it will be just related to bug fixing:

..........
Due to this, we have decided to perform an update that would adjust the areas where driving is disallowed on the Top Gear Test Track, reset the rankings, extend the event duration, and redistribute the event.
..........

Let see what happens...

Yes it's a good source, i'm not one of those who open many threads unless I think it's valuable info for everybody.

Like I said every patch comes between the same hours, maintenance however, they seem to do when everyone wants to get on and play :sly:

@ Roadrunner

That's exactly what I think it's for, that has been needed of a fix since release. I have always complained about the cutting of chicago before this time trial came out.

^^
A thread title change is definitely in order.

"In the current Mercedes-Benz Driving Event from the online events section of Gran Turismo, it has been noted that it is possible to shorten laptimes by driving a line that is not intended to be a part of the track layout.

Due to this, we have decided to perform an update that would adjust the areas where driving is disallowed on the Top Gear Test Track, reset the rankings, extend the event duration, and redistribute the event.

We sincerely apologise to those who have already participated in the event, and ask for your patience and understanding. "

Seems black and white to me that this has nothing to do with a patch, more a mere update on the servers to modify what is and isn't allowed to be done on track....

So what are the patch details.....

Edit: yes, a bit redundant, MitchZ06 beat me to it, but mine has a link... :P

Cool, thanks for highlighting this, I never bother reading that stuff.

Time Trials are a joke, 1000+ cars in the game and how many times is it the same type of cars or same models being used....

Using Le Mans / ALMS / GT / GT500 cars - what a joke. Let's hope they bring something in soon that bans the power limiter and ballast and allows conventional tuning only.... Ithink I'm getting my hopes up there though.

Anyway, rant over & thanks again for highlighting this (regardless of whatever it turns out to be or does) 👍

EDIT:

Just read the two posts that were done when I was typing this - DOH...

Oh well....

The bad thing is it says "Due to this we have decided to perform a update"

My take on it, if it wasn't for that there wouldn't be a update. So whoop de do there are updating because of a seasonal.

So, fixing an issue on the TGTT (Chicago) is not a patch in you're opinion, explain why they couldn't have done this last night during "maintenance" or to be exact, the last 3 maintenance schedules?

Maintenance to the servers do not require you to download an update, fixing issues does:tup:

Because, wait for it it's a new concept, it's unplanned. They were forced to do this....

Love how it has to be a patch since its over an hour and at a different time to usual...

Maintenance has a start and end time where the server is unavailable. A patch goes live at a start time only. If I go on holiday for a month, I'll miss any maintenance but will still get the latest patch downloaded when I next fire up GT5....

Just wished they would lose the invisible walls and just add an off track timer and add that to your lap when you cross the start finish line. For the TGTT they can basically choose which zones are legal for driving and which aren't without the use of irritating and utterly simulation destroying invisible walls. No part of TGTT should have invisible walls on the main part of the course some walls are so close to the edges of the course it's retarded. Ever slid off near the start finish line, incredible you get a car width off and bam invisible wall...PD needs to stop with that crap, just let you slide until you hit that fence out yonder.

PD, lose the invisible barriers/walls/forcefields and just use an off track timer and make the edges of the course further out and more believable. Why model all that track and not be able to actually lose control of your car and careen onto it? We have to talk about those impregnable tire walls too, that is totally nuts.

No, their going to park Kia Cee'ds at chicago :sly:

Edit: Changed thread title for all you're viewing pleasure :sly:

I think that they'll add a few tanks that fire rockets when you cut the corner on purpose, but knowing PD, they'll be hackable so that you can use the tanks to your advantage. Maybe throw in an Escalade or three that have Stigs that fire paintball guns when you try to crash into them.

Gotta love those guys that always find the short cuts on courses just so they can post a quicker lap time, then PD says oops, we shoulda caught that when we R & D, drove the dang course

Hopefully this'll be part of the Feature Updates patchh, and not a standalone update. ;)
