I'm pretty confident that that's just an artist's impression. There's no way Mclaren would make it that similar to the MP4-12C.

Fascinating stuff. It sort of makes speculating especially hard. 800 bhp from 3.8 litres might be a challenge in terms of maintaining the McF1's legendary responsiveness, though. Maybe that's what Ron means.

I read that article actually in CAR magazine and it's definately a concept render. Did have some interesting stuff on the new F1 though.

It isn't an F1 without Gordon Murray. Ron Dennis and Bruce Mclaren are largely irrelevant. The F1 is Murray.

Also, does that concept rendering look a LOT like the work of Jason Castriota?

That would be because it is an MP4-12C, a new "Spyder" version.

This is the new F1 - McLaren's Enzo - with 800bhp and KERS technology. Alongside it the 12C Spyder. Two secret new McLarens for 2012

I agree (to Eunos Cosmo). And it sucks that they don't dare to choose the central driving position again. Guess if I want Murray AND central driving position, I have to buy this one here (which isn't a bad thing, might be more fun than the F1 successor, and a bit cheaper too)

I haven't seen any specs yet, but I think it kinda misses the point, like that new Enzo and the new NSX. KERS? I doubt it is a good idea on anything much heavier than an F1 (Racecar, of course).

These new supercars miss the point of being "super". They're not "true" or "pure" anymore.
Even the R35 is more acceptable because it features many advances on both electronic and mechanical engineering. Now it's just front electric wheels and a big flywheel with a spring everywhere.

Yes, i think it is just a concept render image, but it does bare a resemblance to (non photo-shop based) concept renders that i saw back in 2008.

I actually quite like this design and the direction it's heading (if indeed this is close to what it's going to look like), though couldn't help but notice, the borrowing of the wheels and arches from the Honda FC Sport concept (which i also like) from a few years ago:

That car looks like the bastard child of a Mazda Furai and McLaren's own MP4-12C
