There will be a heir for the McLaren F1. It won't concern only the splendid Mercedes McLaren SLR introduced in her definitive forms to the last Saloon of Frankfurt, but also a real "daughter" of the F1.

A Supercar 100% McLarens, 100% Gordons Murray, projected entirely to Woking. In this case it won't be the McLaren to suit himself themselves for the Mercedes, on the contrary the contrary one. The new McLaren will climb on yes a V12 of the Stella (in many they speak of the same that climbs on the Zonda derived by the propeller of the CL), considering that for contract and business plans (the Mercedes possesses the 40% of the McLaren both F1 and Cars) another motor cannot be chosen.

Men that I lead that some competition BMW, would miss us. When there will be the debut of the new McLaren? The project has just departed, therefore he is not able whether to wait anything else other than 2006.

I dont think this is old news....

The McLaren sucks. Only the 1998 McLaren Longtail is the only one I like.

*points finger* You need to worship the Ferrari Enzo.

Ok you make a statment like that, now you can back it up to why you think it sucks. Give me some reasons as to why the McLaren sucks.
Also I think the Enzo Ferrari has to be one of the fuggliest cars ever made  . I wouldn't wish to own one if it was given to me  .

it looks like a vacuum cleaner.... and 700 bucks for an oil change? Yeah right.

Complaining about the cost of maintenance on any Ferarri is like complaining about having to breathe to stay alive. If you can afford an Enzo $24,000.00 for a brake job is not an issue.

I can do the brakes myself. It shouldn't be that much different from any other car. And if they wont sell me the parts to do it, I'll just replace the whole system, and it still would be cheaper.

oh.. no... :odd:

BRAKE job! you said brake job.... :O

Phwew... thought I was on the wrong forum there for a minute... :D

first off, no doubt that article was run through a translator so that explains the mincing of words. As for Mclarens plans...Mercedes is even now working on a deal to buy out Mclaren. Mclaren plans to produce a new F1, f2, and f3 according to an article in Evo not long ago. This all sounds a bit odd, but look what showed up on the cover of this magazine. Surely a magazine wouldnt make this up...

Thats not the only mag. This weeks Autocar magazine in the UK also has the same McLaren/Mercedes picture on the front cover:

(Note: This image may change at some point, but as of 20th Feb it was showing the McLaren).

Sigh, kids these days. They read something so they decided it's the truth and nothing else is right. Well, one can do an oil change with some very basic tools, costing a lot less that that price. And they don't have to send their baby off to whoknowswhere. Also, can't an ordinary garage do it for you? Sure they aren't trustworthy with a machine worth more than their whole shop...

On another note. Gordon Murray was contemplating making a Mclaren, not a Mercedes, that is something on the basis of the SLR. I can't remember if it was a milder car than the SLR, or a wilder car than the SLR. Either way it will be (somehow) more advanced than the current SLR, same configuration. This is out of a little news report in the mag EVO.

IMO, that car looks pretty ugly. It's somewhat such a far cry from the original McLaren F1 design. :(

Hold on man. This is just a little idealistic sketch. There remains at least 200 drawings before the last design is SET INTO COMPUTER. Then it changes even more before you see one in the metal. Then they make a 1/3 model. Then a first prototype. This is all in the next 5 years... A LOT will change. And keep in mind that this may be the magazine's "artist's impression". These guys don't have the greatest design ideas. Just look through any old issue of say, Road and Track, some of the horrendous things they thought of the Murcielago or the F60...
