The highly anticipated car is just around the corner, its been testing for ages, longer than any other car I can think off other than the veyron. People say that this will be the car to take mercedes back to the top, and I belive they could do it.

So lets have some pics 👍

[/COLOR]The Car Connection's TCC Confidential blog claims to have received in its email box this morning some pics of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class that expose what the car will look like when it's officially unveiled at next year's Geneva Motor Show. Hmm... we're going to go out on a limb here and say that it's a bit early for official shots to find their way onto the web and that we're probably looking at some nicely done Photochops. Time will certainly tell which is the case, but the lack of badging on the rear and the CLS-sourced five-spoke wheels suggest these pics aren't the real deal. Regardless, what we do see is a beefier C-Class with those large five-spoke wheels, a wide lower air intake running the length of the front and CLS-inspired headlamps. We actually see a bit of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage in the taillights (rear shot after the jump), but we've been known to see things that aren't actually there and are currently taking medication for that.

Those TCC confidential guys arent too clever if they think thats the real deal  The car directly above is realistic though.

The TCC pics are horrid. Those tails make me cry.

I love the bottom picture, though. Hopefully, the car won't be a frumpy frump-mobile like the CL came out to be.

Bleargh. What did they do to the back? It looks like some old Hyundai before I started giving them ANY respect at all.

Looks good. All I can say is "about time." The original C-class came out in 1994 - that's sixteen model years ago - and we've seen just two different versions.

is it just me, or did they copy the XK with the tail lights ?
Nah - it's just an evolution of the taillights from the '03+ CLK:

It's also nearly a direct copy of taillights from their own CLS, which debuted on January 26, 2006, long before the XK (though they're both '07 models):

If anything, Jaguar did a bit of copying of Mercedes, though to be honest I don't think anyone copied anyone here.

It's a shrunken CLS-class. It's most evident in the broadly frowning waistline. You can also see it in the way the extreme front and rear are pinched, narrowing both vertically and horizontally. The front & rear lights have shapes heavily borrowed from the CLS, too.

I'd have to see it in direct profile, but from these photos the CLS-esque curves work much better with a smaller car and shorter wheelbase. However, it will take a lot to make the C55 look aggressive with this as a base.

The original C replaced the W201(?) 190-class, which came out in 1984, IIRC. So a 3-Series-sized Benz has been around at least as long as I have.

Wow, that's really nice, however, I can tell you that the production model will be toned down very slightly, I can tell you this, because I saw a test mule covered up when I was out and about, here is a list of differences from the pics above and the model I saw...

Smaller headlights
Longer bonnet
And
Lower Front Features

I'm not sure if I like it or not, but then again I don't like pictures of the current C class either but in person I think it looks great. When I get a family I will probably get a C class to haul the kids around in.

Check out the very slight overhang. Perfect weight distribution maybe?

Well, that certainly doesn't look like the CLS. So much for the previous images....

I'm glad we got the C55 when we did. These new ones are hideous from the rear.

That car scares me. The rear is lights are pretty hideous and the frond looks very reminiscent of the CL, whose front I don't like either (Looks somewhat like a quattroporte). Poverty's non-camo pic is pretty cool

C-class? Historically, Mercedes have not been good at making smaller cars. "If you're getting a Mercedes, get a proper one, a S-class or SL class, or atleast an E-class. If you cant afford those, you arent looking for a Mercedes." Ill be surprised if this is more than a decent car and actually competes with the A4 or IS350, let alone the 3-series or G35.

I like the strong, well-cut looks of the car, very un-Mercedes of the past few years. It would appear as though the looks of the CLS have been passed-down, and I quite like it. Heres to hoping that it handles more like a 3-series than ever before, and they bake enough sport into the lower-level V6 models that I love so much...

Mercedes is all about luxury, reliability, comfort and a nice drive. When someone buys a mercedes they do so for those things. They dont want a sporty car like the 3er with its arguably harsh ride, they want a vehicle from the complete opposite spectrum.

Having a mercedes says about you that you have made it in life. Having a BMW or audi doesnt mean anything. The MB brand is legendary world wide. Audi and BMW arent.

Good point, but it is a C-Class, not the E-Class or S-Class models that generally signify that you've "made it." Sure, the C-Class is certainly a bit more "soft" than the 3-series and even the IS350, but arguably the C-class sits between the two in terms of what it offers in the luxury/performance trade-off. I love the C350 sport, and I'm sure that its follow-up will be just as good.

the c-class sits inbetween the lexus and 3er?

The lexus is ment to be nowhere near any of the germans according to a BMW engineer, and I cant speak of the latest IS but the MK1 interior is disapointing going by what its hyped up to be. It was a bit too toyota.

I thought the lexus IS was a BMW chaser and not very luxurious so wouldnt it be inbetween the MB and 3er?

Well, between it in that the 3-series offers a bit more "natural" sporting ability, while all that the IS350 has is for the most part, computer generated. The folks at Mercedes still go without computers (for the most part) on the C-class, and have come up with a car that isn't overly luxurious, and can still rely on big-power to get the job done.

...I'd take the C350 over the IS350 in a heartbeat, but against the 328i, that is a tough call...

In the US, the 335i took the top spot in the 3-series lineup, so what was formerly the 330i is now the 328i, and I believe the 325i is now dead (with the exception of the older 3-series convertible).
