I see a little Aston Martin with the headlight and grill designs. I see Land Rover/Range Rover on the sides. At the back, I don't want to come up with a comment that will make these boards like "what you been smoking, John?"
I'm going to have to agree. I normally say the Scion xB isn't too bad, but I'm not going to start knocking the Torrance, CA-based Scion over and over again (isn't there an expression for continually hating on something or continually referring to something over and over again in talking about something else?). To me, someone wanted to make the Mini more manly and more aggressive. NEWS FLASH: I don't think it ever was meant to be something to stand out like a Ferrari Enzo or the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. I've always seen the Mini Cooper as a functional car that put the fun in functional. It's a British beauty even if it isn't made by the bigtime British exotic car makes. If this is going to be the new direction of the Mini, I'd at least want to see it as an alternative Mini, not the one to completely replace the current evolution of it.
My suggestions? I like the current-spec Mini Cooper. These newer designs aren't too bad, but I think the Mini Cooper is not a boring car. It's distinctive, has that cool factor, it almost pays complete homage to the classic 1960s Mini Coopers, only more modernized. You want to make the current Mini Cooper better? Keep the one you have now, then maybe work on a more utilitarian model for people to use. Maybe it would a nice alternative. But I don't see these pictures being the next Mini Cooper. I think it would ruin what the Mini Cooper was all about. It wasn't about the smallest-possible automobile that's 50 states legal and safe. To me, it was about a functional automobile that you can have fun with, even if it isn't a Mustang or a Camaro, or even a Miata. It was small, but it was still functional and handles like a go-kart. You want to ruin that passion and that fire? That's your call, player. Just don't ruin the Mini enough to the point where it takes on a personality it was never meant to be. I dn't work in the automobile business, so I can't force the issue as I see fit. But you have my word and my advice. Now are you digging this?
