Kind of old news but I couldn’t find a thread about it on here (apologies if there is and I missed it). Apart from the GR Yaris, this is the only ‘new’ car that I’ve cared about in years, maybe decades. There isn’t a supercar in the world that I’d rather own than one of these beasts. The only question would be MkI or MkII, and what spec. Pure works of art.

Mk1 with the wide wheel arches.

Like this one.

I really hate American car culture honestly. V8 this, V8 that, loud and grumbly, do burnouts, fat and heavy. I hate it.

These Escort restomods really summarize what I love. British and Japanese car culture especially, with small cars and small engines pushing hard, circuit and rally racing, etc. Miatas are probably the ultimate expression of the combination but these Escorts look so awesome and fun to drive. I've love to rip one daily.

One of the coolest things about these is that they aren't even a restomod - they're literally brand new from the ground up, shell and all. They're even registered as 2021 built road cars!

Also a big Mazda fan here, my rally car is an MX5 Miata mk2!

I wonder if the market is big enough that they'll register as an auto manufacturer like RUF or something. They might have to jump through hoops to sell them in other countries like the US.

Watched this vid a while back and I was in love, not just to these specific cars, but the Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts they were inspired by, because as an American I never really paid attention to them outside of rally racing. Tough choice, but I'd have a Mk2 version if I ever could get one.

I'm trying to find out if it is possible to register this car and go to the MOT and get a license plate.

They’re all road legal, 2021-registered cars with 2021 licence plates.
I asked MST and they said that I have to check it. It's the same as registering a Caterham and Westfield according to them and that is not so easy to get an MST Mk1 road-legal over here.
