New physics on controller

Hello, I only play GT7 with a controller. The new physics won't let me steer fully above 100km/h, at 200 it barely steers half way. Anybody else that has this problem? The game is unplayable for me this way.

Is this a stock setup or has the tune been adjusted?

My first thought is that as PD have tweaked downforce in the recent update, you may find that the downforce is pushing the car lower at higher speed, causing the wheels to rub on the wheel arches, which would impact your steering.

Try either raising the ride height slightly or decreasing downforce.

It indeed looks and feels like a steering lock, but this is with BoP/No tuning, so stock setup and it is the same with several cars.

@tuneK5, I know what you mean and you are def right, but now it is very extreme. I'll look in old videos how it was before if you need proof.

It's always on 10, I've tried -2 and 5 too, but that makes it even less drivable..

here is a video clip how it was before

It's not a very good comparison when this video is using Race Softs and the first one is using Hards. Different cars too.

I wonder if tire width has anything to do with it. I know when I changed my wheels from 8.5 to 10s, the car would try to push the front wheels to full lock if I didn't catch it.

That's a good suggestion, I didn't think about that. My problem is that I'm 15 seconds slower at NBR and I noticed the steering input indicator during the time trial, so I figured that was the issue. I'll try it with soft to see if it's the same to be sure.

@Mafio, you can't change the wheel size or width on Gr3 cars and I always rent the cars for TT's and Qualifying.

That's just how controller steering works. Any more and the car would just understeer, so it limits you more the faster the car is going. It definitely always has been that way. The physics are slower than they were before though, and you have to learn how to deal with them.

I've tried it on softs and it's nearly the same.

If it's just me who's having issues with this, maybe it's a sign I shouldn't waste my time on this game anymore. It has been a good +4000hrs and maybe I'll revisit it in a few months.

Thanks everyone for your replies and suggestions!!!

Do not give up, don't fall for the bag game hype, please continue racing and never quit.

How GT7 works on controller is that when giving too much/too fast steering input at high speeds, instead of simulating understeer (front tires losing grip), the game simply won't let you turn the wheels to get to that point. This phenomena has become more noticable with update 1.49 imo, and is most likely what you're experiencing. To counteract this, I switched steering sensitivity from 10 to 5, and changed my steering technique from going full left to full right, to "rolling" the joystick. If you try this, it might help.

agree and concur on this point also, i had turned down my steering sensitivity on my controller and it helped me much
