New PS2 model. And it's small. Very small.

Or you could use the money for a PSP. or more games for your current ps2. this whole thing seems a little stupid to me.

It's like those cell-phone users that brag about how sleek and svelte their new model is yet never mention how important most of it's "new" features are. Style over substance.

This is just...smaller. It probably wouldn't even look as nice because of the exterior power supply. Unless you desperately need the shelf space or need the latest gidget, there is no point.

It's a handsome design for what it's worth... I guess.

It is 75% smaller and I will probably end up buying it. Looks great for lan parties and I play madden in tournies alot :)

What is this button? The replacement for the rear power switch?

No idea. I've still got my first-gen PS2, it's served me well since I bought it on launch day, I've no need for a new one. But I'll mention it to some friends that might want to get a PS2.

I'll bet it's not a button at all. Look, it's black and shiny, chances are it's an IR port for the DVD remote.

I'll probably be buying a PS Two myself, as my PS2 is pretty close to the end of its life. Lack of HDD sucks, though.

It looks very nice, and useful if you have a problem with space. But I think im going to stick with my black SCPH-35001.;)

I bet you're right. That hadn't even crossed my mind. The new(er) remote is super cool, with all the standard buttons like eject and power. I almost want to buy one to replace my first gen remote.

That number seems familiar (sans a 0), is that the one that came with the GT3 pack?

Yes it was. It cost a **** load of money. $330. :grumpy:

Ethernet adapter built-in

I got DSL recently and i'm Online Play ready so i'm looking forward to this. Oh wait I just remembered the Ethernet connection is in my dad's room, I got a Wireless USB Adapter.:grumpy: Oh well buy a Network Adapter.

i bet if you put that thing next to an xbox you wouldnt even see it :) Makes sense tho....on the old PS2 half of it was that expansion bay, eliminate that and you can make the thing as small as you want

Why would I want a more "fragile" Ps2? - look how thin that lid+ good luck keeping it standing up when you try to switch dvds or when somebody step on your joystick wire. just my 2 cents.

thats why you would lay it flat.

When they say external power supply do they mean a bigt hefty plug, or a laptop style box half way along the power cord?

I'd buy it, but only if my PS2 plans to kick-the-can soon. Perhaps that is Sony's idea. Perhaps they think most (I have heard of plenty that have already..) early PS2's will start to break down by about now, and people will see the PSTwo as a worthy replacement.

yeah, it will be like laptops....that or it will just be an ac adapter style plug...but i doubt it

I saw a picture of "PS3" but I didn't bother to look because i'm sure it was a photoshop.

I'm sure it is fake, but still.

^ I would ignore it. I remember when OPM-UK thought the PS2 would be a PS1 with loads of buttons on the flip lid and such.

Might as well wait for the PS3 or Xenon (Xbox2)...

Wow that sounds outrageously too stupid to even believe ...but this looks believeable and its not just a rumor its the planned PS3.....

Well load it up (somehow) and slap me in the face :dopey: . Otherwise, I still think that picture you have is still only an artist impression, or a very early Sony idea.

Also, just some extra info incase you didn't know. The OPM (at least the UK one) has nothing to do with Sony. It isn't run, owned or anything by Sony.

From the Translation of that site it seems there's going to be a 'worldwide simultaneous sale (November 3rd)'!

That would be great, seeing as my current PS2's laser is crapping out. :D
