Just a point to get you thinking, do you think that the crowds at Citta or Grand Canyon take up the same amount of processing power as an extra 10 cars would?

I still think PSM is a biased little rag of a magazine, the SUN of the games mag world.

Has anyone else noticed that the cars we are seeing in these shots are the same as have been see in previous ones?

If there really are over 700 cars then we're only seen about 15% of the final total.

PD just likes to keep us guessing i think...

:)

Maybe it's just the screenshot but these people look 3d. Am i just blind?

They are 3D. Very basic 3D with only a few polygons, but at least they aren't cardboard.

To be honest i think the 3D 'shaded' people on the Grand Canyon course are more than good enough. So long as they don't look like a bunch of pixels i'm happy. :)

Tough to call there, atracht.

Being a personal game editer, I've seen faults and little unoticables in games. Looking in Gran Turismo 3, I know that there are some little unnoticables. For example:

If you come out the pits from Super Speedway, you note about four trees to the left. Most trees in the game are either rendered or flat, but the trees at Super Speedway are sprites. I use the term "sprite" to mention little actors in games that when you go in a full circle around, looks the same in all directions. Other sprites include the cornerworkers at the road courses. They look the same from all angles. Now sometimes, too many polygons can slow things down, so I don't blame games for having such sprites. The only exceptions are smoke and dirt.

But as things relate to the people in the background in your picture, I think they are 3D. Now, I'm not trying to come up with a "Amafil 3D people debate!" mini-topic, so I'll stop it there. Anyhow, those Hong Kong pictures CAN'T be real. The models on Page 3 look like Photoshop of a GT4 car and then shots of hi-res shots of Hong Kong. But for the most part, even I know those shots are for real. Just want to say that they can't be for real. How many times have I said this: I CANNOT wait for GT4! I'm 21. I want to be 8 again! That game will be a positive waste of my youth.

Also, the rally spectators are sprites in GT3 as well.

They do look 3D to me also, but very low poly.

They'll probably be the closest spectators to the track with 2D spectators making up the rest as in GT : P.

Agreed.

also looks like a simple render in a 3d program, but i really cant say... the game really is this good :D
