im a big fan of skodas and i noticed in another forum im on saying that parks of hamilton had a new octavia vRS in so thought i would go down and have look at it, to be honest i was that impressed with the pictures of it but in the metal it looks stunning  there was something about the front end that kept reminding me of the continental gt,the only thing i didnt like about it was that it looked too high.apprently they cant offer test drives as the launch date is the 23rd which is maybe why a few people havent been offered them yet. there was a black mk1 vRS parked across from it and i kept thinking if i had a choice what would i go for and something kept making me go for the mk1 donno why but just seem to prefer it more than the new one.

I do agree that it does look a bit high. Still looks good though in my opinion.

Kind of looks a bit luxurious.

Shes a beauty, but how much does it have in common with the Audi A4?

I think i'd agree with you. The previous gen one looks nicer, somehow. I think it's because it's more angular, whereas this looks a bit podgy in comparison.

*chuckle* yet another corporation dips into the ford styling book...it looks like a Lincoln mated an A6...or a or A Grand Marquis/Crown Vic from the late 90's.

Niky: no, more like 15 years ago

Aw, c'mon... the last butt I saw like that was on the last generation Astra... 15 years ago, cars were just beginning to lose the crappy 80's thing. If that car looked like a blast from 1990, It would look more like a Dacia Logan.

Ha ha my friend dragged me down to Parks of Hamilton to see this yesterday, i actually like it but as said by niky its a rather dated look!

I've actually been invited down this weekend by Parks of Hamilton for the new Civic launch tomorrow and sunday, if i take a test drive i get a free car wash and mini valet! :)

You should maybe go down to see the new Civic at one point this weekend Holdenhsvgtsr!

Nicky: *chuckles again* yep...thing is, that's what a lot of our late eighties looked like in the states when they weren't imitating a Calibra. our current police vehicles look a lot like that. to me, the grill screames Lincoln/Mecury/Chrysler, the tails go Audi, and the headlamps just scream loudly "america cop car"

it also kinda looks like a new Lincoln Zephyr...

A friend of mine has the previous generation vRs, its a great car and I'm sure this one is to but I find the styling a bit bland. As for the new Civic, barryl85 you should definetly get a test drive, I had one about three weeks ago and it was a brilliant car to drive, infact it's going to be the familys next car in a few months 👍

To go back on what I said, though... even though the styling is dated, if the drive is nice, I'll take it. 197 bhp, turbo and around 7 seconds to 60 with a six speed... heck, give me two.

New styling is over-rated anyways. I picked my car over a Honda because it handled better, looked good in an old-school kind of way, and cost less. And now they're brought out a killer new Civic... *sigh* c'est la vie.

dont really fancy the new honda myself, stands too out if you know what i mean.im mostly into VAG stuff(mainly skoda and seat).didnt get an invite to the launch of the civic this time :( did get invite to the launch of the new leon and previews of it when it came out though.didnt know that many people lived near me on here lol oh and bentley on bothwell road have now got another DB9 in ;)

New Civic? Ha!

Anything is better than the outgoing model, and I applaud Honda for actually listening to it's customers when designing the new car. But I dont care much for the new "edgy" styling, particularly that of the European version (The US is a bit more tonned down)...

But to me, the Jetta and Golf are much more refined, fun to drive, and offer better powertrain choises in the long run... Where is a Civic diesel? What happened to the 200HP K-series i-VTEC I4 we were promised? Ohh wait, Honda lacks the guts to sell diesel in the US... New SAE testing standards cut the power ratings on the K-series i-VTEC I4...

Im not sure what the Civic's in the US are like but over here I find the new model to be a better drive and just as refined as the current Golf, in fact the model I test drove had the 2.2 i-CTDi diesel engine which I personaly found to be smoother and seemed to have a lot more go than the 2.0 GT TDI engines in the Golf I looked at. Anyway back to the Skoda, do any of you guys know how it will be priced? might go down the local dealer soon and have a look at one myself.

damn...how come europeans get the better looking cars?

the Civic over here in the US just won Honda a Car of the Year award...they took home two of those trrophies this year, they also won the truck trophy :P

The Civic didnt deserve Car of the Year... It should have gone to the Ford Fusion or VW GLI IMO... Honda may have injected some style into the new Civic, but they have also managed to suck the life out of the once great economy car...

If the Civic didnt deserve Car of the Year it wouldnt have won it, and honda are continually making efforts to improve economy in their cars so it sounds like you dont even have a clue of what you are talking about - the new civic diesel has a great mpg as well as the petrol, and emission levels are looking great too.

Yss...it's a FORD. the only thing that works for ford is Utility. i think Fusion and siblings are gonna flop HARD. Sometimes I wonder if american manufacturers should just give up on the car market entirely...we can't get it RIGHT

I'm hoping they don't flop. The Fusion is actually a very good car... but groundbreaking? Yes, if the Mazda6 was never sold and the platform sharing Ford does remained a dirty little secret, it might be.
