Ok well I just finally got the mom bribed from my mom and dad to get my new system.

Bought a AudioVox "Rampage", and got it installed, but does anyone have any advice on what I should buy? I was think about getting just 2 '12's and boxing them in and saying screw it there, but I need input.

Well I just got performance. My mom and dad went all in for Christmas and nulled my birthday but did what I wanted and put a 2gen TSi in my 1gen Talon.
Now I need something that looks good.

Having holes in your hood wouldnt make it ram air since the intake would not be connected to that hole. If you redid the airbox then yea

First step, replace your AudioVox. Sorry, but in the auto sound biz, you get what you pay for and AudioVox isn't exactly "top of the line." As far as recommending brands, audio selection is a far more complicated task than "this brand is better than that brand," it all depends on what kind of sound you want. What are you looking for? Rate these things in order of importance to you:
-Loudness
-Precision (how clear and defined it is)
-Transient response (how tight it hits, how quickly the amp can change the direction of the speaker cone, high transient response gives you that feeling like someone is physically pounding on your chest)
-Cost
-Frequency emphasis (you want really deep accurate lows, or do you want clear bass all the way through the range?)

Also list the types of music you intend to listen to. Then we'll be able to help you out a little better.

i am very happy with my setup. pretty simple(im not a sound geek), and not too expensive. you can get everything on ebay for around $600, amp, components, sub.

i suggest against getting a ghetto sub setup. this kid in my town has 2 15"s in a blazer. yea great, it can give me a ****ing headache, but they sound like ****. 300 watts into a 10" type r is enough bump for me, and everything is clean.

(i doubt you will take any of this seriously. you will go out and get as many 12s as you can conveniently buy off a friend, and your audio will sound like shlt.)
now i just need to get rid of the rattle. any alternatives to dynamat? preferably lighter.

I totally agree. To me, there isnt anything more funny than the kid next to you at the light with his seat so far back he is looking at you threw the quarter glass, and his right hand at 10 o'clock, with the lisence plate frame and muffler rattling to the good music drowning bass. If 1 out of the 6 speakers in my car work, im good to go, more importantly, thats 5 speakers less that I dont have to worry about my altinator drooling its power loss over.

put a 2gen TSi in my 1gen Talon
Oh.. and what the hell does this mean?

do what I did: go to one of those discount stores (here we have XS cargo) they sell products that have been refurbished, or overruns, or companys gone out of buisness, because I got two 15 inch visonik subs (like $200 each new) for only $70 each each one is like 1200 watts max (I think) and these subs where not refubushed thay just produced too much for the demand at the time... and these things are crazy!! two 15's can pump out alot of bass!!!! you can feel the bass in your chest (such a cool feeling!!) and you can feel your hair shake, and you get looks from every one, my freinds say you can hear my car way before you see it!! and most important it makes the stereo awesome...who cares if i'm deaf at age thirty???:D

I want it to hit a bit I mean not like my dad is pissed off because I knocked up some girl, just something to get a bit of punch. I want to be able to listen to my Linkin Park and Fear Factory with the pounding also.

1gen TSi in a 2gen Talon, means exactly that, I took a 2 gen TSi engine out of a crashed 97 Talon and dropped it into my 1 gen 94 Talon frame. Get it?

And like how much you think it would all cost I know nothing about sound systems.

you might want to focus on getting some good speakers and an amp to power them. any of my friends with subs still have the ****ty stock speakers, for the ****ty rap they listen too its okay i guess, but i like music to sound good.

how much do you have to spend? xtant amps are expensive, but for abouts $300 on ebay, the x603 is pretty much the best you can get. It powers a set of speakers and a sub. You can even run two sets of speakers in parallel, and it can handle it. ear piercing volume with absolute clarity.

i have also heard US acoustics amps from crutchfield are pretty good for cheap.

for a sub though, i recommend a 10" for what you listen to. most importantly, a good amp to power it.

nothing is worse than ghetto trunk rattle.

So what ur tellin me is that you took a 2G engine and put it in ur 94... what the hell for??????? Ive never herd of that in my life... Why didnt you put in a 6-bolt.. It seems like alot of trouble to do a 2G swap into a 1G.

It is a big pain I had to get new axels, drivetrain, and tranny, not to mention a few other little things. And also it took forever to get it all tuned and functioning correctly. But I didn't want ot have to sell my car now and reorder a new bodykit and have to get all new accerories to match the new color.

oh god, you had a NT to start off with... see now this is where it gets to be too much. The average re-sale for DSM is 3,000... (1G turbo).. Its always easier to just buy one than too deal with the hassle and cost of converting one, not to mention a 2G conversion

I was my birthday present for when I turn 16 and for my 15th Christmas abd birtday money I have been saving and my parents are divorced so I get good money from shild support.
