Don't Need One
Shelby Super Cars (SSC) has released a new teaser image of the next-generation Ultimate Aero.

While details are limited, the picture says the car will be unveiled in September. A quick look at the calendar suggests the Paris Motor Show, but that is doubtful considering SSC isn’t listed as an exhibitor.

As you may have known the car was privately shown to handful of VIPs at the Boeing Museum of Flight, in Seattle, on August 8th. It was presented by famed designer Jason Casriota, who worked on the Ferrari 599, Maserati Birdcage, Maserati GranTurismo and more recently the Lancia Stratos revival.

The new car will attempt to regain the title of the World’s Fastest Production Car. The first generation Aero claimed the record in 2007, when it hit 412 km/h (256.14 mph), but the 431.072 km/h (268 mph) Bugatti Veyron Super Sport recently took that honor.

Production will be limited to approximately 12 units and prices are expected to range from $800,000 to $900,000.

Lets just hope that the new car looks better than the last one :nervous:

Now, yes the car will be sweet, but on another point, that is the worst website ever! There's no link to anything. Pssh.

The Aero that broke the record is more like the 2nd gen, imo. The first U. Aero didn't look quite as well built as the TT one that they build now & took a long time to develop.

I know its too close up an image to tell but is anyone getting a Murcielago LP 670-4 SV vibe?

Anyone else think it's amazing that before Koinegsegg came along, the McLaren F1 held the world fastest production car record for over a decade. Then Koinegsegg came and beat it...then beat it again, then Bugatti beat Koinegsegg, then SCC beat Bugatti, now Bugatti's beaten SCC, and SCC is looking to regain the title...all within 3 or 4 years.

Koenigsegg never beat the McLaren. All it had to go on was Koenigsegg's claims & an unverified speeding ticket.

I thought Koinegsegg did an official test and got it to go 246 or something. I remember it beat the McLaren by less than a mile an hour.

Looking back, it looks like it did break it by 1Mph, but was overshadowed quickly by Bugatti.

Not seeing where Koenigsegg ever hit 246Mph.

The report then was that Koenigsegg beat Mclaren by 1 mile per hour but it wasn't overshadowed quickly by bugatti because koenigsegg held that record for 3 and half years (from 2001 to mid 2005). on another note i really honestly think that SSC rushed this car out to the public.

Koenigsegg didn't hold the record until 2005. The CCR was the car that did so & it was released in 2004. It broke the record in Feb. 2005, which was then beaten in April by Bugatti.

The only Koenigsegg that could have held the record in 2001 was the CC, & that car was not produced for the public until it became the CC8S and it didn't break any records either, probably due to the fire at the original factory.

Did some research and i got my facts wrong, you were right the CC-R broke the record in 2005 only to be broken by Veyron the same year. so in a sence koenigsegg started this whole speed war

Apparently this is it. I can't find any better quality pictures. It looks great to me though if this is real.

That teaser image, regardless of it's credibility, looks interesting...Certainly better than the current SSC. The headlights look Gallardo-ish, but the profile reminds of the Ferrari P4/5.

I wonder if this one's based on another car, or if it's an original design.

(I'm pretty sure SSC used old Lamborghini tubs or something to base on the Aero.)

It's much nicer looking than their first attempt...then again, so did Noble, Koenigsegg, just about every other startup supercar make since the mid '90s.

i can't stand the old aero. Just looked horrible (not because i prefer bugatti, it just did) can't say i'm a fan of shelby supercars.

How may of the first one did they make? It seems like nobody every drive it or tested it bar SSC themselves for a top speed run. I just hope this one is more of a normal production supercar. Compare this to some other supercars on the track.

Its a much better effort and looks like a proper production car instead of a kit car. The old one was really damn ugly but this looks quite decient and I hope they produce more than just the amount required to make it a 'production vehicle'.

The lights remind me of the Merc SLS. The front looks like a mix between an Enzo, the Maserati Birdcage and General Grievous! The side looks pure Lambo Gallardo.

First pics of the rear, the exclusive release is from Top Gear Magazine. Its all very 'GT by Citroen".

"Shelby won't say how far his cost estimate undershot. But he obviously did it all for what Bugatti spent on office stationary"

^^ I... somehow don't like the bottom of the car from the 1st picture. Looks weird :s

But it's still better than its predessor :p

Ridiculously. Sexy.

I don't know if it's because it doesn't look like an American supercar (and other than a very, very small select few...that's a very good thing) or, if it's because Jarod has apparently found inspiration from other vehicles (perhaps more this time around) but this is how it should have looked from day one. However, like most American supercars I'm fully expected the interior to suck, well, ass.

Looks like one of those old 90's supercar concepts....

Which is what's so great about it. I especially like the exhaust area, looks like it's concealing two turrets.
