Later this year, I will be releasing the Luminis BS Special. It'll have 5,000 HP and do 350 mp/h.

Seems as legit as their claim to do 240mp/h.

Coming soon, Roger's Honest Hypecar, which will honestly hit speeds of over mach 1* and can do a standing kilometre in under 15 seconds**! Order now at only $5,000,000 a piece!

*If dropped from the exosphere.

**If hit from the rear by a TGV on a top speed run.

More hyper expensive vaporware, eh? I thought the economy is still in the toilet?

I think now there are far more wealthy people than there were before. I think the problem now is that there are far more start up supercar companies that either:

A) Don't live up to its promises, whether its because of funding or miscalculations or lying, or

B) Do live up to its name, but its product is undesirable when compared to established automakers(possibly Gumpert's main dilemma, i don't believe there are many people who want a street legal racecar over the newest Lambo or Ferrari)

Man, I wouldn't care if the thing did 500 mph if it looked like that. There are Fiero bodykits that look better than this trash.

Agreed. The car looks like utter garbage.

 you made my day!

This thread reminded me of the Dagger GT, another absurd "Veyron-killer-wannabe" powered by absurd engines, good wishess and... fairy powder...

There was also the Vector WX8. That dinosaur with a supposed 10 litre engine and up to 1850hp.

The Vector W8, took 10 years for them to actually build any and in the end they only built 17. A success, by the standards of these hypercar building startup firms...

If anyone here is old enough to remember when Keating was known as Barabus, then you'll know they've been making up these claims for the past 7 years & have never shown anything for them except the same car with a bigger motor & more ludicrous horsepower/acceleration/top speed figures. It's no shock that almost no production models have even been seen in the past decade, either.

Startup supercar companies with wild claims have become so common that I've actually lost interest in them :indiff:

The only ones who were actually able to fulfill their speed claims were SSC, and even then their Tuatara seems like vaporware now.

Keating is no different, wild claims and no production car!

Can we put a ban on this type of thread until companies actually have some evidence for their horse:censored: claims?

Yeah the Tuatara is such vaporware, was just announced to remind people SSC were still around when the Veyron SS took the record.

Don't do that! It's fun to discuss.

Remember the 2002 Jensen revival, the S-V8, now apparently under new ownership they have announced (in 2011) a new Interceptor with an all aluminium chassis.... coming 2014

That looks epic.

Dead true. I've posted awhile back that 2 new Australian supercars were in the making, the Joss JP1 and the HAL Giocattolo. They are exactly the same. Joss announced it's car in 2004 and it's been silent since. They are currently working on, well getting the thing off the production line and when they eventually do it may just be forgotten about completely. Hello, it's been nearly 10 years.

Paul Halstead, the guy behind HAL, was just a massive belly up flop. 3 years of production and only 15 were ever made. Engine from a Holden and underpinnings from an Alfa Romeo and that was roughly 25 years ago. He's back again claiming 2 LS7 V8's producing 1200bhp. By the time its ready all of the worlds oil would be gone. That'll be flop.

The point is, these companies have practically consigned themselves as like a one night stand. Made some noise and were never heard of again.

Putting this here, just for laughs. :yuck:

I don't understand why there are all those different dancers.

No, I do get that they are trying to distract you from the fact that the car itself still has a long way to go before any sort of viability, but the acts they chose just seem so strange.

Barabus? Now that's a name I've not heard of since I visited their booth at the LMS in 2006, and their goal appears to be no different now either.

Aside from the new Bolt venture though, I'm finding it hard to believe that they're still making any effort to advertise the TKR (which was their original "Veyron beating" prototype) after all this time. Only now it's under the Keating name.

If you go to Keating's site both the failed TKR & its little sibling, the SKR are still there with the Bolt.

The car is still around. Was just seen at Pebble Beach & the engine was revealed back in June. An actual interior is the only thing people haven't seemed to have seen, but they're still building them.

The Tuatara is still in the making. Apparently it's going to be released next year.

That's how I found out that those models were still being showcased to a degree online.

I mean, what better way to exhibit your new ultimate speed record-beater than putting it alongside the previous flops on your site? Let alone ones from your company's previous failed incarnation.
