Hi guys, my old t.v. went out so I had to get a new one, thing is I didnt see that it does not have red, blue, green, yellow, white input on it. Dose anybody know of anything that convert it to hdmi?? every time I look I can only fined something to covert from hdmi, I need something that will convert TO hdmi. thanks

Are you sure your 360 doesn't have an HDMI output? Mine is 4 years old and it has a HDMI output on it. I think they're just in a different spot on the new ones.

No hdmi at all, its 1st gen :(. There are some old ones that have hdmi under the input plug but not mine.

Most likely cheaper and wiser to get a newer 360 and sell your current one as it will most likely be on its way out. Component to HDMI adapters cost quite a bit. If you want to use your all old 360, the cheapest two options would be a) To use AV cable for SD picture or b) Return new TV and get one with Component.

bummer thats kinda what I was thinking.. Oh well I geuss s.d. will have to work, I dont use it often enough to buy a new one. Thanx

Is there a VGA connection in the TV? There should be. If not DVI, then all you need to get is an official xbox360 VGA cable ($10 on amazon) and possibly DVI adapter ($2-5) then you will be fine without HDMI.

There is DEFINITELY one of those 2 on the TV. I use VGA for my TV. I am in the same boat as you. No more component cable hook-ups......I use 2440x1080 setting with my VGA cable. The resolution all depends on the tube. some max @ 1980, some 2440.

Oh, and you will need a little adapter for the Red/white(sound cables) Just one that converts it into the headphone slot. That part is cheap too.

Are you SURE it does not have the red, blue, green, red white inputs? You should have a little plug that came with the tv and you plug it into that port which allows the red, blue, green, red white plug ins. Make sure you check your box to see if its in there.
It should look like this green plug.

If not then you have 2 options.

1. If your tv has VGA you could hook it up that way. The cable could cost around $39.99. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Xbox360/Accessories/CablesNetworking/Xbox360GVGSHDCable

2. Get a new 360. Seriously if you are using a 1st gen 360 I guarantee that thing will not last much longer. Especially if you start playing the new games that are coming out. I also have the 1st gen 360 with no HDMI and that thing has already been repaired or replaced 4 times by Microsoft for free.

Bought my 1st gen 360 3 months after they first released and its still going strong... Well after 2 RROD's, but i dont see any reason to buy a new 360 just for the availability of HDMI, thats silly. go to monoprice.com. a component to hdmi adapter is like $40. why would anyone buy a new 360 now?

I've owned the same broom for 20 years, it has had 17 new heads and 14 new handles, it is still the same broom. :sly:

So the OP has a first gen 360 that has never RROD'd?, that's a miracle in itself and Microsoft should give you a new TV just for that!

As for a new TV not having component HD, its pretty plausible because its kinda obsolete being around a much shorter time then good old Red, White and Yellow. Some smaller LCD's only have HDMI ports now.

As you clearly pointed out, to avoid getting the RROD. 💡

Yes i'd like to talk more about it but i have to go buy some new socks, these ones i have on are great but i just worry about them someday getting a hole in them so i will replace them even though they are still perfect...
