New to forums, just saying Hi...

Wuts going on. Im new to the forums but not so new to GT4 and GT drifting in General. Started Drifting in GT3(controller) and was in love with it. I only wish i had the equipment to upload The Replays i have.

-Just a few days ago i finally figured out how to drift in GT4 using the logitec wheel. And im in love all over again :dopey: . I Am starting out on the City/Street courses as the change in elevations on other stages make it harder to shift weight and control the Drift. The car i started with is the D1 Blitz 4-door skyline(Ken Nomura) car i think it is. With Sport soft tires, and Orignial Suspension(Cant Remember settings). Was also using the Gt-Apex Shigeno Version(sp?) Ae86 trueno which is fun too since u can floor the throttle more. And also the Bp Falcon Rx7 D1 car.

-Im still learning but the feeling of throttle/counter-steer is soo much fun with the wheel. I use the feint drift a lot, combined with braking drift and sometimes just power-over. I dont use ebrake cuz the button is not really reach-able while steering/counter-steering plus u can do with out it.

-Wut courses/corners are very popular and fun to drift? I will explore all the tracks once i get better but if there are any suggestions i would like to look out for them.

elo, glad to see a fellow newbie to GTP forums.. im pretty sure u'll enjoy it here

without a doubt autumn ring reverse.. its probably a favorite here, it's short at the same time sweet.. give it a shot, im sure ull enjoy it..

drift on!! 👍

You might also enjoy Infineon Raceway (Sports Car Course, the Stock Car Course :yuck: ) as it has many types of corners.

Are there better ways than sideways?

Apricot Hill, all incarnations of Autumn Ring, Deep Forest and Motorland are a few of my favorites these days. I find Autumn Ring (Full reverse or mini reverse imo) to be a great learner track cause you have loads of varied corners, linkable sections and no real downtime (straights).

Why Sports Soft tires btw? Drifting is a lot easier with N tires.

I will try some N tires tonite. I started out using Racing Medium(like i did in gt3) but as soon as the car grips it just whips in the other direction, so i went back to trying the tires that came with the car(Sport soft), I will try the N tires and see if i can extend and maybe control easier. :D 👍

I would say Tokyo R246 , Its a really wide track and favorite spot is the after the 4th coner.. the chicane.. you just gotta love to E-brake to get some serious over-steer and when it´s allmost out of controll to the left you just flip it over and hamemr the gas down in the right corner.. (works exelent with Skylines (R34) and the Blitz (my alltime favorite drifter :D

(Tip. practice over-steer cornering at Costa di amalfi)

some great corners there

good luck drifting

Interesting name choice... My name used to be Silviadrifter, before I had it changed to my current name... I also drift an S13 in my daily life... Welcome to GTP... Take time to familiarize yourself with the "acceptable use policy" and "Terms of Service", and of course, enjoy your stay...

My current favorite course is Grand Valley East (and the full course)... Although, Autumn Ring (forward and reverse), and Infineon Raceway are also good fun...

N tires are indeed the prefered tire of most drifters here (N2's to be exact), but as long as you match the tire well with the power to weight ratio, you'll be just fine with any tire....

;)

Thanks again for all the warm welcomes. I just put N(2) tires on both my blitz r34 and the Ae86 Trueno and all i have to say is  👍 . Such a difference in control and counter-steering/straitening out. Autum Ring (full) is wut ive been practicing on and im getting almost every turn besides the really long turn that starts under, and then goes over the bridge. I am already getting the hang of it and should be moving on to harder courses soon. Im ADDICTED!!!

-And the reason i chose this username is that I have a 90 240sx hatch, With a blacktop s13 sr20det motor with bolt-ons and few things done. I've drifted a few times(in the rain) and have played countless hours of GT3 so ive got the concept of drifting/weight-transfer. Just need to get controls and physics of GT4 down.

-Finally im getting the use out of the wheel for the reason i bought it. I enjoy the races and driving missions, but Drifting....<3 :O

Oh schnap, a NEW SD. :sly:

Welcome, looks like you're off to a good start! Don't forget about the search button and the stickies! :)

Is N2's really that popular..Im still using N1's...

N2s seem to be the default choice, but sometimes when I'm frustrated I'll go for N1s for a little 'exhibitionist' stuff. At least for me, it's easier to do high angle crazy stuff on N1s while N2s is more about control and managing lines and speed (it's weird how grippy N2s seem when you've drifted for a while) :dunce:

edit: how could I forget Grand Valley and esp East. I've been trying so hard to link that middle section (2-6?) but I just can't make it to that final left before the tunnel :indiff: Very fun courses to drift though, and definitely in my top 5

:dopey: <----isn't that just the best smiley EVA! :dopey:

Some of us guys can get a little cranky at times... But follow the rules and you'll be fine.

Welcome!!!

Wow, I have a cool feeling about our new, very dedicated drifter:tup::sly: Cool to have you with us, I'm sure u rock....;)

Edit: Yeah sometimes things can get a little bit outta control here, but luckily, we have our cool mod Swift:p. It's because of all the new numerous threads about things you could just search for. Like "Whats the best drift car?" or "Help, I keep getting the backflip!!".

Some of us can get VERY annoyed by it, so please search, and to all others: please reply to stupid threads with a LITTLE bit more respect to a drifter...that doesn't search:scared:

But I'm sure everything will be fine:tup:

ahh the almight "search" function. The forums i frequent the most are www.VwVortex.com (mostly the car lounge) and www.Freshalloy.com (nissan) site, so im very familiar with the use of "search" and newbies getting flamed for not using it.

-I will be looking into the video recording card in about a month or two since i would really like to be able to share the replays and even get in on the teams/competitions. Looks like a lot of fun. I see a lot of people are from Europe. My friend works with this guy "MAX" who is the supposed gran turismo "Grip" time trial master. He told me about this site and also said that in Europe GT games are way more popular, i wonder why that is?? Anyways Drift on, i see this as cheap, but fun practice to get the concept and idea down for when i am doing it in the real thing.

pardon me but I forgot to say welcome and I hope u will enjoy your stay

and the search will help u alot of time to find you answers

Cool, you know alot man:tup: Your a cool dude. Cool to see that this site is very popular. And for grip masters, try some dude here called Veilsib or something. He's got a freakin +/- 4.50 min time trial on Nurenburgring man. I think it's one of world records:p

-Update-

-Just did my fist Connected drift. Connected 2 turns very smoothly. I figured out that when ur finishing the first turn, to swing it around I tap the brake rite before i cut the wheel the other way, to slow down the swing a bit so i dont flick back too quickly and spin out...Im drifting turns at higher speeds and maintaining drifts/speeds much better, instead of doing a lot of power-sliding. :D

Haha same here. Its like a addiction.

Welcome to the fourms s13SilviaDriftr. As SD (Delphic Reason's old name) said, weird choice. Well anyways man welcome to the foums again. I hope that you will stay with us for as long as possible. Please feel free to ask any questions you maybe have about drifting (considering you already tried searching for the anwser first). There are many "PRO's" on this fourm and almost any thing you can throw at them they have the anwser too. Well i hope you have fun and keep it sideways.

welcome to gtp I hope you enjoy all the threads that are posted here....I read that you don't use the ebrake cause you can't find the button....Look for it everyonce in a while and use it as well....Ebrake can help extend your drifts if you use it correctly...Glad to see another dfp drifter on the forums! Look into xlink for online dorifto action, it's by far the best drifting experience out there! Drift ON!

Thanks once again for the warm welcomes. :dopey: . I will try to set it up so the DS2 could be used as the e-brake (since while spinning the wheel its hard to pinpoint the e-brake). But so far i'm doing pretty well without it. One of my new favorite drift cars is the M3 CSL. I will post up the settings for it pretty soon.

-The way i initiate the drift is by feint action(not the nicest looking but gets that badboy going). When the weight swings back from the first turn out, to turn in, i tap the bakes, and go down a gear, from there its just throttle control and counter-steer, and DAMN does she like to drift. 👍 . I am looking into a capture card first so i can get some videos/pics up. Xlink sounds awesome hopefully by the time i get it people will still be doing it.

-This board is great, from browsing and a little bit of searching, i've already learned a lot. There isnt much reason for creating a new post unless im having problems, or finaly get some pics/vids up. I wish i could turn GT credits into real money so i could afford to throw my 240sx around and start drifing in the real world. But its my daily driver so i cant yet. 💡
