Hi,

My name is Jonathan, I'm from Canada and have been into racing games and simulation since I was 8 years old. I am new to Gran Turismo but not to the racing simulations scene.

I have been part of the Live For Speed community for about 2.5 years and inside Forza Motorsport since 2004. I never really got to play Forza online since I was young at the time and the concept of paying just to have the privilege to play online with friends wasn't a normal thing for my parents.

I decided to move to Sony a little earlier this year after breaking my original Xbox. After 6 years of services, it was well due for a rest. Since I was paying with my money, the only limit I had was my personal choice. And I had two. Either get an already aged console that breaks more than it runs or get a PS3. Choice wasn't too hard.

So here I am, a newcomer to GT Planet and Gran Turismo in general. I hope I wont bother you too much! :)

PS: I didn't buy GT5P yet, I'm waiting for the *real* GT5 to come out so it might take a bit of time before you guys see me online héhéhé. :dopey:

I reported you because its in the wrong section. Your new here so it's not bad, you didnt do anything wrong, Just that you didnt post this in the right place.

Welcome to the Forums! HOpe you stick around, and join in our discussions! You'll do great here if you play'd Forza and LFS. GT5 online is amazing!!! Some Great Races out there, you just need to find em ;).

Welcome to the house RM!

I lol how its been moved to GT5P: Drifting without a mention of drifting in the post.

Welcome to GTP anyway, Hope you have a good one.

Welcome to GTP man , enjoy your stay!
But why is this in the drifting section !?!?! haha 💡

Well actually I had a lot to say and I somewhat forgot to mention that I love to drift... :dunce:

Oh by the way, I got two questions for you. I'd like to know something about the drift mode. Is it only a mode that gives you a score when the rear end slides or does it also affect the physics so it's easier to drift?

Also, I saw that you can't modify the appearance of the cars but is it possible to get performance upgrades for them? 💡

no..unlike nfs, the physics don't change from drift to race - make it extra fun when you're driving a high powered rear wheel drive car. Iv'e noticed this to and i was sceptical when I saw it on youtube.

you can't buy parts but you can tune your car up. What happens later in the game is that you get point races where a car needs to have less than a given number of performance points
(say it's a 500 point race and your stock 599 has 600 points, you have to lop some power off or add weight to get the performance points down to at most 500)
you'll come across these when you eventually get online to.
I never put on performance points unless I have to cause it takes away the sensation when I overtake a much more powerful car - and 'cause of the sublime physics, any car with over 400hp should be able to spin it's wheels round a corner with the default tyres.

I know it's your money and your choice, but I suggest you get GT5P - it's so much more of the game everyone makes it out to be - and with the rumors that there's more upgrades to come, GT5 itself is looking a mighty long way away.

Yea, I might aswell try and get a pre-played version at EB Games. I'm glad the physics dont change and that was my main worry about this game. Now that I know it works like Forza and LFS, it makes me wanna get it even sooner. :dopey:

PS: Anyone here using a Logitech Momo Black? That's what I got here and it works good in DiRT so I hope it does in GT too. :D

logitech used to put the GT symbol on their box so I'm pretty sure it's compatable. depends on how old it is. If it's moderatly new, it should work

I've got a weird, 200 degree Logitech Red MoMo wheel

it's not the best, but it gets the job done. Only problem is that it doesn't calibrate by itself and probably off by... 5 or so degrees

but, like I said, it gets the job done

For me wheel though, I have a controller connected as player 1 and later I will connect my wheel which becomes player 2. Both work flawlessly so it helps and gets rid of trying to figure out what does what on the wheel 👍

hope to see you online soon!

welcome and i would definately say pick-up GT5P if you want to have some fun. The full GT5 is still probably a year away(atleast). You will have fun. You cannot buy mods/or change parts, but once you beat all of the A-class races (must do C-class and B-class first), then you can get into the quick tune section which allows for some power change/weight change, suspsension settings and gear ratio's. :)👍

Actually, I decided to get the game from a local gameshop. I bought it used for 15$ so I guess I had a good deal. I will try tonight but I'm probably going to get a 100% savegame as I dont really like to fight agaisn't AIs. :dopey:

Oh god, I shouldn't have updated the game right now. I should've wait tonight when I got to bed. Now I'm locked out of it! Can't access content FTW lol.

Right between Montreal and Quebec. :)👍

But yea is that normal that stupid PS3 wont let me play the game for a cartain time after the update?

nope, not normal at all

you can't play it while it's updating

other than that, something's wrong

do you have the link to the drift chat, RM?
