Hey everyone! Merry Chirstmas to all. Hope everyone has enjoyed their holiday thus far.

Anyway. I picked up GT5 when it was released and sad to say im only at level 15 in A-spec and level 3 in Boring B-Spec. I play when i have the chance after work. Today i have spent endless hours playing it. I just finished beginner and im about to finish Amateur.

Im looking to gain insight from all you guru's out there. What should i be focusing on in terms of modifying and maintaining my vehicles. I seem to always be short on money because i have to fully build my cars in order to win races.

Thanks.

I see you are skipping the B-spec factor of the game.

You should use the same cars you use in A-Spec and do the B-spec races, this way you will win more cars/money.

You could as well do some Special Events, these really help when talking about Exp/Money, and most of them are really fun to make, and of course challenging.

I never did any A-Spec racing apart from events, and now this new Bonus events we got from the new patch, and so far i got 9m cr. and lvl 26 A-spec / 25 B-spec

If your short on money, try the special events. The payout is 1 time only, but the credit/xp boost is great. Plus you can win great cars. You start slow in terms of cash, but later on, you will have tons of cash stock piled. Also, as for B-spec, personally I would suggest you get deep into A-spec first so you can get the resources to make B-spec faster and less boring :P

Merry Christmas to you too :)

What should i be focusing on in terms of modifying and maintaining my vehicles.

For 95% of the races I like to pick a car that is similar to the cars i'll be racing against (i'm not going to use a Supra if the other guys are all in Muscle cars) and modify it as little as possible.

I like to do an oil change, air filter, exhaust, clutch, weight reduction and either sports soft or racing tyres depending on the type of car. I don't use the racing suspension much, occasionally i'll get the close ratio gears if it needs an extra gear or its geared really long. Sometimes I'll skip the weight reduction if the car doesn't really need it or if its a car I want to be able to return to stock (you can't undo weight reduction or engine upgrades).

As for maintaining, I do an oil change when I buy a car (but careful with the online events because it can put you over the limit) and after every few races. I've left it for a while a few times and the power drops off a fair bit but it's not the end of the world.

I also as I got further looked for cars that might win multiple races. For instance buying the Lambo because it competes in the italian series and the lambo single make series.

Nice info there. I always see B-Spec as a bot but I have not delved much into it. :D

As for tuning and mods, I don't really splurge that much. I want the cars balanced so they won't turn into uncontrollable beasts.

Maybe some intake, headers and exhaust, weight reduction, suspension, ECU, etc.

First off do the licenses and special events. They will get you credit and prize cars. Also they will help you be a better driver and you can send less upgrading and still win.

Then check the competition and try to buy a car near the top of the specs to race. Watch the used market a lot for deals.

I hate bspec but have gotten pretty far with almost no bspec.

Also try to race what you can with your curent garage before buying another car. You don't want to buy a car for a race only to win it in another series if possible.

Mainly though focus on being a better driver. It will save you money on a spec. Sadly it means you car will be sadly underpowered for bspec as bob is not a very good driver...

Personally, I've been achieving on A-spec and then letting my B-specs reap the rewards of driving superior machinery for the same event.

I would also recommend doing the license tests and special events first for the experience and to get some nifty cars to start racing with (or sell for another preference).

Happy driving!!

Welcome and merry Christmas.

Ok rule number one of GT.

Rule number 2
Constantly find shortcomings in the forza franchise and use them to discredit the series, While praising GT for the same shortcomings (you will learn fast) ;)

Rule number 3
Have fun and try not to get on the wrong side of the moderators here.

In all seriousness, The advice you have already been given is pretty solid, I cant really add anything to it.

Respect other drivers. Even AI drivers.

This is probably my best advice too.

You want to abuse those AI drivers as much as possible.

I know gt5 is tyring to be a simulator, but smacking into other drivers, ramming them of the track, and most importantly the double whammy, using them to slown down from massive speed, making the turn, whilst at the same time screwing them over off the track is probably one of the most iconic things in Gran turismo games, I hope it never goes away as a nod to its heritage.

I totally agree, once you get lot of cars, you just give to your AI driver those monsters and he will kill the race, you dont even have to wach him ! :P
