I've had a thought, after visitng scarredgoth's "confirmed cars and tracks" section of his site I noticed that he put Citta di aria under the rally track heading. This is presumably because only one car has been seen driving around it.

I have a theory (warning serious speculation alert!!)
Perhaps there is a new category that tracks can come under; Test drive.

I read something somewhere about test drving a car before buying it, perhaps this is what Citta di Aria is for. The tracks could also be used for 'run and settings' stuff as well.

KY mentioned that he might include a version of some mountain pass in Spain (sorry for forgetting its name) which could also be included in this category.

If this is so I would like to see a track like the 'Touges' on Best Motoring vids they would be great for testing cars on.

Perhaps the Pennines would be another good one, hmm..

what d'you reckon?

I sure hope that Citta de aria isn't just for machine settings.. I wan't to race that track..

Which one? Anyone taking a Speed 12 onto the Snake Pass needs a few marbles replacing. I destroyed a car on Woodhead (at 30mph - I promise) - and it's not really given over to high speed stuff. Holme Moss is a cracker though.

Heads Of The Valleys in south Wales is better - and there's a good road in Scotland with springs by the sides of the road (but I can't remember the name of it).

I quite like the alternate to the A47 near Downham Market in East Anglia too...

Oh hell, you got me started...

I know the feeling...

Snake pass would be damn cool in some of the more docile cars (relative terms here: I mean under 400bhp), although it would be difficult to model the entire stretch.....

But you have to admit, any British country road would be fun to drive in GT3, cos you could really test cars against a benchmark that you can relate to (if you see what I mean??)

i sure do hope citta de ari is a race track that way itll be hard to pass other AIs and challenging =)

It is a race track, it was at the most recent show in playable form and it was raced on by journalists in single player and LAN.

Judging by your location, I guess you may well understand what I mean when I say "Kings' Lynn, A47 roundabout"...

I'd love to see a game with some of the UKs roads in it - non Brits just don't seem to get it, especially when you say things like "205 GTi beats a Porsche on a B-road blat"...

I've gotta agree. So far I've only seen single vehicles in trailers and such, but there are plenty of pics showing multiple vehicles racing each other (two Civic Type Rs, Skyline GT-Rs, Mini Coopers etc.). I have never seen more than two cars though, and in the demo versions the track was only available in Time Trial mode (plus network), because the track was to advanced for the old AI to handle (I believe I read somewhere about the AI piling up cars in the corners, during beta testing!).

One thing I'm sure on though; Citta Di Aria is not a rally track, just an exceptionally tight race track.

I'a vid of the NSX LM race car on that track, it might still come under the rally section but non rally cars can use it like SSR-5 wet in GT3.

It could well be a tarmac rally stage in GT4 and it would be nice to see a few more of these.

On the subject of UK roads, one of my favorites is the A592 Windermere to Penrith. God knows how it go classified as an A road and not B, but its a classic stretch (just go early to miss the tourists). Winds down past the lakes and always reminds me of the San Remo rally.

How about wall riding??

This track looks like the "best" wall rider will always set the best lap times.

:irked:

Sounds too Initial D-ish for me..Follow, lose ground, lose, gain ground win..Blahk. Just let me drift past'em..I dont wanna follow them the whole way down...

I know that you can race on the track, but due to the limited number of vehicles seen on it so far (one or two) we can only assume it is not part of the usual 6 car racing, but is something different to that and rallying, because there have been shots of non-rally cars on the track. Perhaps its a new one-on-one challenge thingy, or perhaps for 2p/online mode where glitches in AI won't cause frustration (eg constantly getting in the way, that is assuming you race against fair human drivers, ahem)

@Famine: sorry can't say I remember the road, not been that way in years (sounds silly I know) but I'll bear it in mind as a worthy detour (hmmm, I could go A15 to Bourne - that's a good road, then head over to wisbech then A47, perhaps next time I go down to Stamford I'll do it, it's only an 40 mile detour each way ;) )

I used to go to university in Norwich, and we found that staying on the A47 all lthe way from Peterborough (dual carriageway notwithstanding) is roughly 45 minutes SLOWER than the alternative Peterborough-Wisbech-Downham Market-Swaffham-Norwich road... Good road :D

It will probably be in the rally section of the track like SSR-5 wet ni GT3 was, cos it's on road you can use non rally cars like the SSR-5 wet, it's not new to the series.

I'm pretty sure that Citta di Aria is a rally track, but it's a tarmac rally track.

There's no place and no logic in having 6 cars racing there - the track has just 3 places with wider road and 2 places with turns which are allowing overtaking. 6 cars would be a mayhem of legendary proportions. Not a bad thought, but pretty crazy idea too.

Due to GT game series logic and treatment of rally races - two cars in direct duel - I find Citta di Aria just an usual rally track which, unusally but not unusally - has a urban setting and it's tarmaced. As it's tarmaced, every car can race there just as long it have a tarmac tyres :).

Guess we'll just see many different rally stages this time.

If I find a link to the quote, I'll post it, but I remember Kazunori saying in an interview when Citta Di Aria was first revealed that it was not only going to be a race track, but also the basis for a number of license tests, including the FINAL test, for whatever the S License equivalent is destined to be in GT4. In this sense, it's going to fulfill much the same role as Complex String in GT3, only you'll be able to race on it. Actually, you'll *have* to race on it, yeah? For 100%, that is.

By all accounts, however, it's a tad nastier than even the String was. Brilliant!

But then the rally tracks are still race tracks, I read that it may be the final test but it's not a quote from KY.

Itd be cool if they added the winter element in GT4 at rally's like Maine Winter Ralley or Sweden in WRC.

Isn't there a render of a Lancer rally car on a snowy road somwhere?

ive seen a number of cars running on the track so far. i have a video of an R34 on it, a loctite NSX(i think) and that pontiac GXP car on it or whatever it is. i think i might have also seen an accord running on it too. all these are from videos too, so i dont think its limited to a certain type of car right now.

And where can we get these videos?

Both these places are not in English, but take them to www.altavista.com for translating.

This one is from France, and it has a English option. The vids are on the bottom of the page.

I've seen the NSX-R LM race car going round it, it wasn't driven very well and at the bit where theres a wall that sticks out either side making the road narrower it went straight into the wall, is that the one you've seen?

I've seen two Skyline vids 1 was an R34 the other an R33 but no Accord or GXP.
