I've just seen a load of stuff about the new Triumph Daytona 675 in Bike Magazine, and it looks superb. Maybe even awesome...

3 cyl., 123bhp at the crank, 155kg, should be a cracker. I think it could replace my '02 GSX-R 750....

...can't have a thread like this without pictures :p

I'm out of school in about 9 months, so within a year or so I should have a pretty decently paying job... and I think I will be wanting a new motorcycle to replace my $300 '79 Honda :)

I will definitly be taking a look at the new Daytona, it certainly looks nice and the little bit I've read makes it sound like it's supposed to be a bit mellower than the CBR-ZX-GSX-600RRs, which would be about what I'm looking for.

It does look really good... I want to see it in the same yellow as the current Daytona that the local dealership has.

...although I may end up buying an old sportbike once I have money... I should probably learn to ride fast on something that's disposable, I would cry if I wrecked something that pretty.

I don't think I've ever ridden a Triumph before but just by looking at it I bet it handles a lot like a Yamaha. I really want to get a R6 but I just don't have the money for the insurence on it.

Isn't this forum meant for cars not bikes, a bike is no car you know folks.

And so? It still has wheels and an engine. Anything motorised and fast is fine by me. :dopey:

All cars have one insurmountable problem - too many wheels :)

Retsmah, I spent last winter commuting 40 miles a day on a Suzuki Bandit 600: I know it's not a sports bike, but that would make a good beginner bike: it handles well until you really start to push it, it'll do 130 and you can still outrun the police on the motorway (or so I've heard... ho hum). 👍 . Plus they're cheap, easy to insure, and everyone overlooks them. Then if you can't keep up you've got the best excuse in the world, and if you can people are really surprised :D

I bought the CX500 hoping I could get some riding experience on it, then when I get out of school I could get a nice sportbike... but I'm thinking the CX500 is just too fat and slow, I'm not sure that my experience riding that would help me at all on something like this Triumph. So I may have to buy something inbetween, like your Bandit or something.

It's a good idea to have something crashable to start off with. Mind you, I don't have to fall off to ruin a perfectly good motorcycle - my maintenance schedule usually does the trick... :dunce:
