I have not played GT5 in awhile well I went to play it the other day and I needed to do updates. I had 12 Updates to do which I think were for 2.01 and 2.02 I got those done and then it tells me I have one more 2.03 so I download it.

This is about 12hrs long as I have DSL at a speed of 860K on the download side. I have nothing else on my network when I download these cause I want to get a clean download.

It ask me if I want to save some of the info of the game to make loading cars, tracks, etc. faster. I click yes and it does one installation and then another taking about 30 to 40 mins to do this.

The game loads up and when it gets to the GT symbol it stops and will not do anything else. I have deleted the downloads and redownloaded the updates twice now and still the same thing.

You guys got any advice for me?

Download the updates. and then quit GT5.

Then go on XMB to.
settings > network settings > Internet connection > Disable...

Now go play GT5.

If this works.
It means your ISP connection is to poor to play GT5 with any connection online.
If that still fails it means you ISP/or setup is so bad that it can't supply a clean error free download

Relocate PS3 to a better Connection and redownload then play it offline..
Good luck.

Yes the connection is not good. so you can disable the internet thru the system settings or, just log out of the PSN, and GT5 will instantly get back to the screens. If you can upgrade to cable internet, thru a company like Time Warner do it.

Thanks for the info guys. This is what I thought was happening was I was getting a errors in my download. I had stuff connected to my network the first time I did the download. The second time I did not have any other thing on my network. I hope I got a clean download this time.

I will try logging out of PSN and seeing if i can play offline which is what I do anyways. If that doesnt work looks like I will be taking my PS to someone who has a better connection.

Does any know if you can download these updates off the internet on your computer and then transfer them over to a hard drive and then update my ps with the hard drive.

No, only thru the PS3. The only thing that can go thru a pc is the PS3 System Update.

Well it was a no go. I guess I will be taking my ps3 to somewhere that has a faster internet connection.

Ok guys I took my PS3 to someone who had a faster connection. I earsed my game data and started the download again. This time I had 13 files to download. All the downloads went super fast.

we can back after a couple of hours and all I got is a blank screen. I restart my PS and it goes through the first couple of screens after the warning screen it goes blank and nothing comes up.

My buddy has GT5 so we put his disk in my PS and it does the same thing.

Any advice would be great. I would like to play GT

Have you tried playing GT5 with your internet connection disabled? I didn't see you answer to that suggestion.

yes

I have disabled my internet connection. I have enable my connection buy did not sign into the PSN. Nothing seems to work.

Well, I can only think of two other variables. Either it's something to do with the game data, or the save file, you've covered the updates and internet connectivity variables. Barring those two, it may be a console issue.

I earse the game data when I did the new update. My console will play MW3 and Need for speed so I dont think it is that. Only thing I have deleted is my saved data

I just finished loading the same 13 files after replacing my ylod'd fat 40.
Even with a NAT 2 on a secure wireless connection, it took me nearly 4 hour so I canceled the download and shut off the system and modem. I erased what files were there under the system data storage that were already downloaded and started over. This time its taking less than an hour to complete 10 of the 13 files and I'm currently halfway through the 1192mb file.. I would think you need to delete the data and start over as it sounds as something in the original download is corrupted

This could be and this is my thinking to. I want to say it took around 3Hrs to download all 13 files maybe a lilttle less. I was hard wired to the modem and PS tested the connection at 2.6M
