New update sand trap

I agree sand traps and off track excursions are much much less of a slow down then before. I am okay with it for now since the online races are less than ideal with still way to much flat out drivers with little to no respect for others. Before though is how I would expect pro mode in final GT5 to be as a minimum. On a medium size track off road run off with no spin etc. you should expect to loose 10 to 30 seconds in a sand trap. In real life often times you can not drive out of sand traps etc. If GT 5 took expert mode to that degree, than perhaps you loose a lap or two and have to start from the pits if no damage was done ( in cases where IRL the car would be stuck ).

I think you guys are playing too much Suzuka. Try going off-track on Fuji on Simulation physics and you will slide for days. Do it on arcade physics and the sand has like 50% as much traction as the road.

I'd argue the sand physics are better now, simply because it felt like there was a canned 'spin' effect before, regardless of the steering inputs you made, you'd always spin in the same manner. Now it's more like LFS etc where what happens when you hit the sand and the ferocity of the spin (if one occurs) is controlled by the physics.

It depends on the venue. You can drive on and off the grass and out into the sand in Suzuka, definitely not the same. You can shortcut turns at Fuji and run way out into the run-off areas like you could never do before. If you happen to run past the run-off area and into the sand - easy out. However, the grass at Fuji seems to be just as slick as before. The penalties at the High Speed Ring are still in place, but if you are proficient at rail-riding, you can go through turn 3 and the final turn about 4 seconds faster than everyone else, and come out carrying much more speed at the exit. I'd rather have the old penalties back - so I took some I didn't deserve - at least SOMEONE got penalized for the poor driving!
