How the heck did I miss this forum!?
It is most excellent!

I didn't search for long within the postings, but didn't find anything on people getting together to battle head to head. Does anyone do i.link?

I had a realitively successful event in my basement last Saturday, (11 people) and though I've held one before this was the first time we've had 6 linked together. It was way cool racing head to head, or in some cases elbow to head ;)

ive linked up with my friends b4 but that was only 4 people, it still was exciting racing our best turbo charged beasts it was really a thrill

When you do an i link battle, you can only race the cars they give you right? When i i-linked two ps2s i couldn't use my own cars... this is the way its supposed to be right?

Yes, you have the option of any car unlocked in Arcade Mode, but none in your Garage. Also all drivers have to use the same class (C,B,A,S).

You get to race on all unlocked tracks except the Rally tracks. There is one exception: the wet stages are unavailable with more than 4 players. Cote d'Azur is available even though it's not in 2 player mode.

Ah ha!

Thanks for clearing up the Wet tracks for me. Last Sat. was the first time I'd had 6 i.linked and couldn't for the life of me figure out why the SS (wet) course was gone.

I also noticed that Rally is possible with i.link, but only with two people.

One question:
What determines the number assigned to each PS (or starting position)?

Theories:
order linked in hub
ranking

I also wound up using my memory card for all the PSs to make all the selections even.

The starting grid is a funny one. It seems to me to be dependent on the playstations themselves. We find that each playstion has some kind of built in unique number which is used. Of the group I play with mine seems to have the highest number, and always starts last :(

In order to get the full range of tracks and cars, you need Arcade Mode to be completely unlocked on all memory cards.

thats interesting wastegate as n e time i with my friends i was infront all the time and they thought i was screwing with the system, thx for clearing up my little probs
