Newbie online racer tips?

Hey all. This is my first first post on the website though I check it every day. Great community. Anyway I am new to racing online with GT. I am used to the Forza system of car classification and matchmaking.

My question is since you have to favorite you cars to use online what cars should I have? For example 350hp, 500hp, Formula GT, over 1000kilo etc.

Just wanted to know what are some common groups you will find in the lobbys.

Don't forget NASCAR, Super GT, WRC, LMP/Group C, Go Karts. What I like to do is build more than one of my favorite cars, so I can use them in a wide variety of races. Keep one high powered/lightened, and one stock. Also, if you buy all the upgrades it gives you more combinations to use to get closer to the hp limit.

Stock your Favorites with cars you're comfortable driving fast, and as suprtrukr425 mentioned, grab all the parts you can for them. Yes, it's expensive, but it's a small price to pay to make sure you're at the maximum allowed levels of performance for the room.

Few things are as frustrating as not being able to keep pace with the field in the corners, just because you forgot to buy a full complement of tires, when you know for a fact that you're one of the fastest people on the track -- or not having enough power to make a pass stick on medium-to-long straights.
