Hello all,
I purchased GT7 hoping I could access cars and tracks in a non story mode. Is this possible? I purchased it as a means to familiarize my self with tracks I will be driving. I am attending a track day at Laguna Seca next month in my 911 Turbo and don’t wish to progress through the entire cafe menu before then. I’m sure this has been addressed but I could not find an answer in my cursory search, my apologies. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,

Oh boy, you have years to catch up....

You need to start from GT on PS, then you need to complete all the licenses and gold them.

You should Also get a wheel and VR2 on PS5 Pro if you don't already have.
That would be most useful to you before you transition to your real car

I am envious of you having a 911 turbo.
Which year and model ?

In real life, You might want to take it easy.
Have you ever driven it on the track anywhere or will it be the first time, especially on the corkscrew ?

You are not ready for real life full send in your 911Turbo
Just Take it easy

In your case, one month is not enough to learn
You could try the time trial alone and get the very best time, competing against yourself,

I think that would be moat helpful, using VR2 and steering wheel....

Thank you for the response. I am 43 years old with much driving experience and some track and autocross experience. In college, 20 years ago I drove a WS6. My track and autocross experience has been with my heavily modded E46 M3 which I still have. The car I will be bringing to Laguna Seca is a Racing Yellow 991.1 911 Turbo that was pretty much spec’d to be a Turbo S minus the carbon brakes and center lock wheels.

My console is just a PS4 with a regular controller. I remember playing Forza many years ago and racing Laguna Seca plus watching hot lap videos now, but wanted a little more familiarization with the track beforehand. I’m not trying to go full send, just to have a good time and stretch the legs of my Porsche legally.

You'll have to progress through some of the career mode (cafe menus in the case of GT7) before you have enough credits to buy the closest equivalent, the 992 Turbo S. I'm pretty sure you have to complete a few menu books before you unlock the car anyway. This should only take a few hours.

From there I'd recommend fitting comfort soft tyres which are about equivalent to something like a michelin pilot sport 4s (or another high performance road tyre). From there you can use the power restrictor or ballast (also available in tuning shop) which will allow you to get the power/weight figures closer to your real car.

You need to complete Cafe Menu Book 13 and then Laguna Seca will be unlocked and you can drive there in any mode and car you like.

I don't think this should take more than an hour or two, and will give you a nice intro to driving in the game.

Start small with just the game and controller, when you can AFFORD a wheel setup then by all means go get it, but as a beginner stick with basics and learn it well with a controller...
