Started a similar thread for 2015 and it took off. This is pt. 2 for NFS Payback!

This time a couple rules:
  • You can post more than one car from your garage, but limit it to your favorite 2 or 3 cars with a maximum of 3 pictures per car. (be picky we want to see the best you have!)
  • Constructive criticism is welcome, but please no bashing other people's creations. We all have different taste, respect that!
  • This isnt a traditional photography thread. Please refrain from re-posting pictures of the same car unless you've made note-worthy changes to the vehicle. Nobody wants to scroll down the thread and see the same car over and over again!
  • Commentary is welcome! Give some background to your car, why you did what you did to it, what style you're looking for, and what inspired your creation!
  • Have fun!
I'm looking forward to seeing all of your creations!:gtpflag:

Thanks for this. It's one of my favorite parts about the last game, and will be with this one no doubt.

Question: Since it isn't a traditional photography thread, does that mean that the pictures must be garage shots only? It seems like Payback has some sort of showcase mode based on videos, but nothing has been said about it so I don't know how it works yet.

Another new NFS game meaning its time for me to get back into the art spirit since Need for Speed 2015 was the primary game I'd go to for making wraps despite already owning a Xbox and now having the ability to play Forza which has a way better wrap editor.

During the first week of the game's launch, i've made a surprisingly good amount of wraps. So far I think these are my top 3 builds I've made so far.

Seeing all those car builds makes me wanna make a Payback version of the Car Builds contest I made before for Underground 2.

^^^ The M4 view from behind is porn LOL
I'd say the same for the overall quality of the car because of how authentic the wrap is.

Btw interesting side note, you know what's interesting? Ever since Forza Horizon 3 at the very latest, I have barely been making any wraps in video games lately up until now with payback. Apparently that didn't mean lower quality wraps and instead, only gave me a lot more time for coming up with plenty of great ideas for wraps. In matter of fact, that LB Walk M4 is just the beginning people.

Coming soon for future wraps, expect more character art and Digimon / Pokemon wraps including another and hopefully better Samurai wrap for the Nissan GT-R that will utilize the ukiyo-e art style seen in medieval Japanese Art which I'm really working hard on to make this kind of wrap see the light of day as well as replicas and more fictional Genki Racing Project vehicles. Sounds pretty cool right?

Well I haven't had as much time to play as I want, but I've been building slowly but surely. Here are my first few creations! I tend to go for a clean look on all of my cars, so they all are fairly simple.

Had to make a GTI since I own a MK5 myself. Absolutely love the way it sits, and this is before I put bags on it.

This 911 is another one that was bagged after the pictures. Maybe I'll have the time to hop back on the Playstation, but if you've ever seen a Porsche tucking 19s you know how amazing it looks.

This r32 GT-R is based off a build I've been following for a little while now. Anyone who knows what it is gets bonus points hehe.

And of course, the s2k. The blue s2k was the first car I built in 2015, and its a shame Payback doesn't have te37s anymore but the CR Kai's still look stunning.

Should probably post some more as I make them. For some reason, I'm finding that I am enjoying making liveries in 2015/Payback a lot more then I do in Forza.

I'm really frustrated that all of the supposedly different sheens of decals are all the same chrome/glossy look. They need to fix that bug. It's messing with my ability to create rough looking rides. Or even trying to get the look of textured unpainted fender flares is impossible.

This is my second race class car I'm using after the VW starter car. I deliberately tried to keep this BRZ fairly stock in appearance. Only added a front splitter, side skirts, and rear canards. The wheels are OEM, only increased in diameter to 19"s instead of the factory 18"s. What I tried to do was make a BRZ that looks as though it could've been a special edition from Subaru. I kept the Subaru colors - gold wheels, pearl paint, and a blue livery that isn't over the top. The stripe on the hood reads "Special Edition."

This won't be the cars final form, but I'm enjoying it as-is for now.

This is my current drift car. I deliberately tried to make a wrap loosely based off of Rachel's 350Z in NFSU2. Again, not a direct copy, but what the car would look like if it was updated to 2018 trends. If you look closely you will even see gold accents on the wheels, matching the color scheme of the original. Hope you like!

This is my first runner build. The inspiration was taken from Samson's car in NFS Carbon. Samson was an obscure character who belonged to the 21st street Crew and later joins the player. His tier 2 car is the Charger. The wrap in Carbon is silver/chrome with gold stripes and flames within the stripes. I didn't mimic the colors exactly, but copied the design.

My first wrap to kick the year off as well as being the very first character wrap I made on NFS Payback. I had this thought of making a Weavile wrap on NFS Payback in mind after playing with him over on Pokken Tournament DX. And tbh this came out pretty nicely. I think some of the details do need some fixing but so far, this probably looks better than some of my character wraps over on NFS 2015.

Also lol.

In other news, i've noticed you guys have been rocking the downloads on my wraps lately with the biggest contender being the X6 M. For something quite simple looking, I wasn't expecting it to get over 1,000 downloads but somehow, we've manage to get there. But still keep up the good work guys!

^^^ One thing I've noticed is that quite often the simplest wraps are the most popular when it comes to downloads. Or, not necessarily "simpler," but more forgiving with different car mods. It seems that the more intricate I make a wrap, the less it is downloaded. I have a tendency to play off of the body lines when designing a wrap, and those lines can change quite a bit depending on what hoods, fenders, etc. someone has installed.

As an example, the Charger I posted above is probably one of the simplest wraps I have in my library, but it only looks right with THAT particular hood. For that reason, I typically don't upload my personal wraps - they tend to get lost with very few downloads.

It may not necessarily all come down to simple wraps. Let's not forget about popular replicas like anything FAF related, NFS Character vehicles or freakin eyes on windshields *disney Pixar's cars* etc. will likely gather the most downloads. Though I kinda do believe it could also apply to how close to the game's release date that the date of the wrap was made as the more earlier wraps I created got the most downloads.

I swear but if I remember, I had a LB Walk GTR on Horizon 3 that had probably one of the most simplest wraps I could come up with and it gather a lot of downloads. Tbh I wish more people could care more for originality. It's such a shame how more people care about what's more popular or trending. I could probably bet $1,000 that if this was a pikachu wrap instead of this lovely weavile wrap I made because pikachu is pretty much the series's mascot, chances are, it would gather possibly over a 100 downloads. But since I care more about the other Pokemon creatures in the series rather than Pikachu, this is probably the reason why both this and my Yveltal wraps didn't got a lot of downloads or barely got any at all.

And if you want to talk about making vehicles based off of obscure NFS Characters, how about anyone from NFS Carbon: Own the City?
