THE RULES!

Great there seems to be loads interestead in this so I'll clarify the rules for the first round.

Cars
You need 3 cars, any car will be allowed as long as they don't exceed the performance points set down thus. Car 1 no more than 4.0 PP, car 2 no more than pp 6.0 and car 3 no more than pp 10.0. You can use any car from any tier as long as it dosn't exceed these performance points.

The track
spa........simples, each race (for each car) will consist of a 2 lap warmup followed by the main race which will be 10 laps. so the whole event will see you doing 36 laps in 3 different cars.

The time trial
There will be a time trial leaderboard up on the first post of this thread, it will be split into 3, one for each class of car. please post your times in this thread with the relervant car and it's PP so I can add it to the time trial board, this will give everyone an idea of how competertive there car is and if it needs more work. Your position on the timetrial board dictates the lobby you will be in for the race.

Points
There will be minor points awarded for timetrial positions and substantial points awarded for the race positions. I'll total them all up at the end of this round of the event and post them up.

Timings for the races
This is the first event of what I hope to be many and as such we'll see how long people need to get cars together and the event may be extended depending on this, we are looking at running the races next weekend though.

Practice
Feel free to hold small races throughout the week, but there will be a main practice event on wendsday, this is to get people acustomed to racing each other and to see how well your car stacks up againts the field.

The Lobbys
The lobbys will be private lobbys so you need to make sure other racers have your PSN name so you can be invited in. Which lobby your in is on the first page and is determined by your overall timetrial position.

Multiple lobbys

You'll be placed in a set lobby depending on your points scored on the timetrial, to this end those in lobby 1 get a 2 point bonus, lobby 2 a one point bonus and lobby 3 0 point bonus. now come race night I doubt everyone will turn up so you'll be moved up to fill "slots" were people couldn't make it....you will not get bonus points if you move up a lobby because of this. Those not posting times will automaticly go into the last lobby.


Race Points

3 races will be held 1 for each class, points are as follows

1st =10 points
2nd = 8 points
3rd = 6 points
5th = 4 points
6th = 3 points
7th = 2 points
8th = 1 point

There are 3 races so a maxinum of 30 points can be won.

Time trial points

1st = 5 points
2nd = 4 points
3rd = 3 points
4th = 2 points
5th = 1 point

Cool not sure what your thoughts are on car selection based on the the tuning restrictions in place (ie not above 4,6 and 10) but my own thoughts are going for vehicles which are more speed orientated when you consider the track in question.
I went online before in by escort cozzie which is prety close to 6 at the moment. I had a repeated battle with one of the american muscle cars (can't think which) but I'd hammer him in the corners only for him to trounce me on the straights, this was on one of the smaller courses. On spa I would have stood no chance. So anyway I'm going to have a look at big grunt over finess and see if a bit of suspension work can tame it enough to stay on track.
The tuning on NFS isn't as clear cut as say GT5p so I can see a good few hours trying out some "comperamises. Hopefully leaderboard scores should give a clue as to which GTP members are going the right way and in what cars. Of course I'm going to have to go an earn enough cash to get 3 cars together first LOL
 
I haven't given it thought yet, let me look some cars up during the weekend. Still, if you feel some cars are overpowered, you could always exclude some, or make it a one make/model event. Not in game of course, since you can only restrict by level, but you could still add extra rules. :)
 
No no, Any car goes for the first one, certain cars will be better on certain tracks with certain setups but ultimatly it's down to what type of car you can drive best and then trying to get it setup for the track were running. The points system which "rates" the overal performance of a vehichle in Shift seems to be very well done. But unlike other games ultimatly the driver is the key factor not the car. Makes for some really close racing.
Future races we could do a single car or type of car race. say RWD or porsch or even touring cars.......it's really upto everyone and what they fancy racing.
 
Hmm I think it's more acurate from what I've expeienced so far, There was a wide variety of cars online and all seemed competertive, but you could see the cars traits, big long wheelbase cars tended to have the grunt while the short wheelbase stuff ate them up in the corners. you were constantly attacking and then defending depending on the part of the track you were on and your type of car.
Of course if your cars not upto the limit of its performance points your disadvantaged against those that are, but (and this is what makes it better than GT5p's system) your not hugely disadvantaged! you can still win or at least be in the crowd! on GT5p you'll simply find yourself at the back very quickly.
Theres alot of things to account for when tunning (and I'm no great tuner by the way) but one of the major things is the suspension, the tracks are much more "teaxtured" than in GT5p, I mean theres more ridges and bumps, which really unsetle the cars if there too stiff but the weight transferance on NFSS means if you go too soft you going to strugle with braking and understeer. Making a good all rounder will be very hard and because the car physics vary so much from car to car, getting the right veihcle is going to be key! can't wait to see what people come up with!
 
I'm up for some online races but need to play offline a bit first to get enough cash to buy a decent car pool to choose from
 
You can sell a car for the same money that you bought it for. So you don't need as much money as you think you do. I haven't tuned any cars yet so I don't know what happens with them if you sell them.
 
yeah buy anything in game and you get the adsact same for it when you sell it, makes edging the performance points right to the edge easy as it cost you nothing to do, same with cars, try them, if they don't suit your needs for now just sell them and get somthing new.
Just debating weather to get a second cozzie for the 6.0 class or stick with the E46 BMW I've started working on which is a really nice tourqe machine. 4.0 I think MX5 or somthing really light as for the 10.0 class? no idea yet not got anything that powerful yet but should have when I unlock tier 3
 
This sounds like something for Lion's Den Performance Racing's first racing series.:D But I'll have to get the game first and get some cars after.:nervous: (Is getting pictures to the PC in this game as simple as copying a file to a USB stick and uploading it to the computer?)
If it's going to be a series though, why make people race in 3 different classes? Wouldn't a traditional championship carry more meaning and fun?
 
Yes a championship would make more sense but for the first race it's better to keep things simple and have a nice spread of cars to see which class people like the best online. maybe if theres another interest as time goes on then a dedicated series can be put together, another reason to limit things in the begining is people are retricted to what cars they can unlock and aford until they get further through the game.
 
Yep you can earn alot of cash online. dosn't give you stars but it dose add to your XP points.

I've definatly settled on my 6.0 car now, started building it up, currently it's only on about 4.8 so lots more to do, tier 2 E36 M series BMW running 286bhp as stock. also slowly sorting out a paint scheme for it, it's far from finished as yet like the tune LOL Cars realy nice to drive and I think it will cope well with the BHP of 6.0 class, going for a high speed setup for spa so forget the brakes just lots of power and a bit of chasis work to keep it planted on the high speed bends. No nitrous either too costly on points.

Don't you think it might make sense to try some one-make races first, until we all understand WTH is going on with this game online?
 
Too bad your room won't be "found" in the invisible list of rooms. Yeah, it still pisses me off how EA/SMS set the online portion up. Unless you have friends to race with, the online racing in this game is worthless. Random rooms makes it hard to find people who might have tracks/cars set up that you'd like to race. Obviously, with the GTP_Registry finding friends won't be as bad, as long as they are in their GTP_account.

I can't get over it and they need to change it.
 
Oh, heck yes I'm up for some races. 👍 I'm sick of getting crashed into every corner on every track by a super low Evo IX that has the turn radius of a semi truck.
 
Right after a night of monumental battles online with ukogdyer and ukogeric plus another5 guys I earned anoth cash to finish off the E36 for 6.0 class and buy and partly mod the tier 2 audi RS4 whic will be my 10.0 class car, this just leaves me to find a decent 4.0 class car

As for the online races tonight, best online racing I've done for a long time real close 10 lap races with the full 8 car fiels restricted to stock cozzies, absaloutly seat of your pants stuff with loads of close racing.

RIght can I sugest I alter the first post on this thread to include everyones name taking part. a list of the cars there using and there best laptime in that car around spa. We need to send out friends requests to all the people on that list and also I'll take any suggestions onboard regarding future track and car racing, one thing sugested tonight was a GP race with a set stock car, not a full night but just one race where it's completly down to driver skill and not there cars. maybe an end of night wind down race?

Anyway not seen one problem online regarding runing these series races so get stuck in, if people are finding it a strugle to get cars ready in time then we can extend the start of the main races until everyones ready, in the meentime get your laptimes in and I'll get a quick leaderboard setup on the first post.

Finaly I'm trying to ignore posts which simply are there to anoy, it's very troll like and has nothing to do with the thread. please stop it!
