Hello all,

I recently got accepted into the closed beta of NFS World Online, and I am creating this thread to show everyone a peek of the new game.

I will be posting screenshots, videos, reviews and more, and I hope that anyone else who got accepted will pitch in with their views.

The beta begins Friday and ends Monday at 2:29 AM.

***FIRST UPDATE***

I just installed the game and had a quick spin around the city. My first impressions are less than what I thought they would be. . . :nervous:

The installation took about 5 minutes, it was 774 megabytes.



After installation, it asked for an email address and password to authenticate that you were a beta tester.

After that, it went down hill.

It asks for a screenname and you have to select a lame portrait of a character you play. The pictures looked like the ones in Underground 2.



After that, it took me to a car selection screen:





As you can see, the graphics are a bit like Shift, but they sway more towards Undercover.

Here are some more:















The models are fairly well done, but I guess they are using the same as the Shift models.

Once I selected my car (You can only choose from Tier 1 at the start), a Mazdaspeed 3, I set out on the city.



And guess what: NO INTERIOR VIEW :grumpy::grumpy::grumpy:



You can only select Bumper, Bonnet, Rear, Far Rear.

One of the things I hoped EA would improve on in World was the street car modeling. Here you can see a police car:



It's fairly based on the Charger, but in terms of graphics, it falls far short.

All pictures taken on 1920x1080x59 and I know this is only a beta

These pictures look an awful lot like nfs undercover to me.
Cars , graphics , backgrounds, all of it.
Undercover sucked, any vinyls you applied to your car would not show up online, only stock paint job.
Even the map looks like undercover.
 
The game actually takes place in Most Wanted's Rockport & Carbon's Palmont, so the roads are nothing new though the environment has been reworked.
 
I'm sorry to say I got really sick this weekend and have not been able to play the beta. If anyone would like to chip in, please do
 
I missed the first round, but I succeeded in getting the application in, so I hope I can give it a go in a following round. :)
 
I got the 2nd beta invitation too! :D.

I'll be home all weekend (Must recover from a little surgery) so I'll have time to snap some pics and make a critic :sly:.

Thanks T12...gotta lose my "Wisdom tooth"...Gosh I hate the dentist and his "Big-needle anesthesia" :nervous::(:nervous:.

Back on topic, I'm stuck downloading a "Patch". I don't reccomend downloading it with a 300Kb/S internet unless you're willing to do an all-nighter download. Since my first comment the download has progressed...8% :confused:.

Mine downloaded rather instantly. I can't play it until tomorrow afternoon...but still.
 
Thanks guys. I will only be able to play Friday night, and hopefully with my G25. . .

It would be great if you help with some pics, videos, thoughts etc.
 
It won't let me play.

Even the goddamn beta installation is botched. Can't say that I'm surprised though - it's EA. 👎

Bah...stupid thing. After I downloaded the big thing, after I downloaded the 2.9MB patch, and after accepting the user agreement all I get after clicking "Play" is that "Windows detected an error and has to close the task"...🤬. Something's telling me it'll be NFS:SHIfT all over again, great going EA...

Any ideas people? I'm running Windows XP Professional with Service pack 2, got 2.5GB of RAM, an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Processor and a Nvidia GeForce 8400GS 512MB graphics card. I believe it's a pretty capable computer, don't know what is going wrong. Don't think it's due to my computer since EA made me run a profiler program to tell them about my hardware specs, so if they sent me the Beta knowing my specs it should mean they're fully supported. Only thing I can think of is that EA, again, has done something wrong.

I had the same exact problem.

Check your Antivirus (or Windows) firewall, as they might very well be the culprit.

I added NFS World to the list of exceptions in Firewall settings and I still get the same problem. My antivirus might have nothing to do, It's NOD32 with the latest update.

This really sucks, EA can't even do a Beta work...

EDIT: I kinda got it...maybe it's that I have Windows SP2...It would've been easier if from the beggining EA had told me about this...
