Does anyone know much about the Nike Limited Edition Boxed Set ?

I received mine yesterday and it is not the same as the regular one that I have seen !

1) There is no Plaque on the top showing the Limited Edition Number or the Signature

2) Where the regular shoes are Black and White ( White inside and white stitching ) mine are different, they are Black with Red Inside and Red stitching.

3) The game included does not have the cover with the Nike logo and Nike One car, it is the normal cover. It’s the Chinese version of the game, Not the Japanese version.

4) It has a small piece of paper inside the box stating that “The aluminium box and all it’s contents” are Not For Resale, it’s a proper piece of Sony paper.

The Guy I bought it from said that it was a Prize at a Game Exhibition and he won it, he said anyone that had pre ordered GT4 was entered into the draw automatically.

He also said that out of the 1000 Nike sets 60 of them have the Black / Red colour combination.

Does anyone know if this is all true, If anyone could tell me more about it I would be very grateful.

My only disappointment is that the game does not have the special Nike cover !
 
Does anybody know how to make the Eye Toy camera work with GT 4 ?

I had a quick go with one last night but nothing happened !
 
Well sounds pretty fake to me.... take a pair of shoes, manipulate them, take a copy of the chinese GT 4 and sell them for 500 or 600 or whatever dollar.... Perhaps you can post a photo?
 
I've read about and seen (through pics) the black with red stitching (which I think looks more badass anyways!), but the case without the plate is weird.

Also, I wasn't aware it came with the chinese version... thought it was all Japanese copies, since it was a japanese promotion... post pics.

If you're not content with what you have, i'll start the bidding at 200. =)

It's definately not fake ! But, it is unusual !
I agree on the colour combo, Red/Black is way better than White/Black !
Sorry, I don't plan to sell it !

Here are the exact words the seller told me ......


1st Email

"I guess what you mean is the Japanese Version (white color for the Nike Shoes) for public sale! I attached the photo to you for reference. It is 1,000 pcs in the world but out of which 60 (red ones) are lucky draw items gave out in Asian Game Show 2004! And the red ones do not come with serial number and only comes along with a statement from Sony that "Not for Sale" (I also include for you!) Anyway I will ship it out today and give you the shipping number then!"

2nd Email

"Yes, it's prize from the Asian Game Show 2004 for those who pre-ordered GT4 has a chance to win the package and Sony produced this version especialy for this game show occasion! So it's totally a different package from the traditional Japan one! You will note the notice attached wtih the package from Sony! So it's extremely much more rare than the ordinary one!!!"

I am going to have to say that's fake. I just don't see why a shoe company would get involved with a video game. A video game that deals in no way with shoes I might add.

Don't hold me to it though, I've done no research. I'm going to say it's fake though.

I have say that I prefered the white black combo shoes......red doesnt seem to go with the GT theme.....

Oh, and Concept......it is true that nike and GT did a collaboration to promote the nike 2020 in the game......I found one of many threads on it.....

So there IS such a thing as the nike box set......BUT I have not seen the red colour combination shoes.....whether they are fake or not I dont know

I'm not saying that the case is real or fake, but Nike is involved in GT4 with the Nike One Concept or whatever it's called. It's ferizzle my mo-hizzle.

Yeah, it is definately not fake. In one of the official Playstation Magazines (can't remember which one, but it was the one that Gran Turismo 4 was on the cover), in the article about GT4, there was a little something talking about the shoes and the limited amount made. I say you've got something pretty damn special 👍

I am pretty sure those are legit. i recall seeing on the nike website (or GT4 website.. trying to find the link now) that Nike and GT4 were releasing three different color schemes of shoes, one type for asia, one for europe, and one for the americas. as i recall one was blue and white, another was black and red, and the third was white and black.. the latter being the most seen so far. I'll update you with a link as soon as i can find it. you can probably find it yourself, just sniff around the NIKE and GT4 Japan sites and you will find your answer. later-

AS far as I remember reading you need the special Japanese Nike version of the game to use with Eyetoy, so the Asian version will be just the same as the US ans UK versions when they come out, not compatible with eyetoy!!!
 
Ok, after having seen the pictures, I agree, no fake.... nice package....
 
weren't the shoes only availible in 4 sizes?

So I guess my chances of finding one with 15's is impossible??:p

Actually, the eye toy deal is supposed to be that it will recognize the shirt and give you the Nike car.

So, put the shirt on, stand in front of your eye toy and let 'er rip!
 
I wish the main GT4 supported eyetoy :indiff: ..................although at the moment I don't see what it could have been used for! :rolleyes:



..........win special JPEGS for certian races that you transfer to your computer via USB then print onto paper and hold infront of the eyetoy to unlock stuff! :lol: :lol: .....totally pointless but it could be quite fun....... 👍

I buy 150 dollar shoes..............except I buy really good quality light weight hiking boots called trail cross-trainers. They last me about 2 to 2 1/2 half years whereas many people buy new shoes every year or even every 6 months so I think they are worth it............I'll admit I'm also very easy on the things I own, I take good care of my stuff.

you just have to complete IB (or is it IA) with Bronzes to get the Nike car, so not having eye-toy support isn't much to worry about...

I have gold on every license, you are correct, you do win the Nike car for one of them BUT ..... you cannot enter any of the races in Gran Turismo mode with it. I think that if you have the T shirt and Eye Toy it "Unlocks" the car and allows you to enter and win the races !
 
I just paid $150 for this set in Niketown in NYC. ;-) they're awesome. Supposedly they are only being sold in 4 Niketown stores in USA, NYC and San Francisco for sure, not sure where else...
